Hi there

I will travelling to Thailand for the first time in May for 8 weeks with my girlfriend.

I will be arriving at Bangkok on 26/05/06, then plan to travel around Thailand for a bit until about 19/06/06 when I plan to go to Langkawi in Malaysia by boat from Satun. We then plan to return to Thailand by boat to Satun on 29/06/06. Then spend some more time in Thailand until our return flight on 20/07/06.

I really need to know what visas we will need?

Will I need a 60 day tourist visa or can I simply get two 30 day visas?

I can't seem to get a clear answer anywhere. Have already emailed the consulate but they just sent me the forms.

If anyone could help that would be brilliant and would be much apreciated..... :o

if you stick to your timeplan NO Visa will be required .

Upon each arrival they will stamp your passport with a "EntryStamp" permitting you to stay for 30days.

Enjoy your stay without worries.

Your airline might want to see an outbound ticket, leaving Thailand within 30 days, before they let you board on your way to LOS, if you have no visa.

So perhaps a single tourist visa might be safer for the first entry. The second can be covered by a 30 days visa-exemption stamp, if you qualify for this, as per vinny's list above.

You should obtain a single entry tourist visa. Without it there is a possibility you will never get on the aircraft as 30 day visa free entry requires ticketed outbound travel within that period, which you will not have. You use the tourist visa for boarding aircraft and arrival in Thailand and when you return from Malaysia obtain the 30 day visa free entry.
