Where's The Best Place To Live In Isaan?

Featured Replies

I guess there you would have to write really a little bit more about you and your interests.

Obviously, living in a place lioke Khon Kaen with its big universities, it is real city life, staying somewhere in the sticks in Surin or Mukdahan is not even comparable to that.

Obviously, a good mix can be had in Khorat, with the added bonus of being in Bangkok opr Pattaya for a long weekend by just jumping into the bus for a few hours.

Asking where is the best place to live in Isaan is like asking "how long is a piece of string". Isaan is a large area comprising 19 Changwat, and it much depends on what you want from your life as to where you "set up shop". More info please :o

Isomewhere in the sticks in Surin

And yet all you people keep asking why Surin has more to do than Korat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To many farrangs in Udon now so I vote for Surin :o

Hmm. . .

I'm from the US, but if someone were to ask me "Where's the best place to live in the US?" I'd have trouble. Even if I were asked what the best part of my small Massachusetts hometown to live in would be, I'd have trouble. But isn't the question pointless? What life is like wherever you live is pretty much up to you. So many people just passively go about things, and blame insufficiencies on their environment, etc. Try to be the type of person who can be happy anywhere, and you will be.

Jesus, I just reread the above. Okay, come to Ubon Ratchathani and be a would-be pholosopher ###### like me! Time to log out. . .

I attatched a carefully written out poll of the major areas in Isaan......but it didn't work for some reason! #%@#**!!!

Staying on the outskirts of Khon Kaen city is great for me. Lots of space and near the city things.

khon kaen is super funz. A nice mix of new stuff, old stuff and city life/rural life. It also seems to be a bit ahead of some other plays tech wise, ie computers/internet.. all depends what you like i guess, its not really that clear cut as one place is better then another, although i keep hearing udon is full of farangs + lots of americans left from the nam war?
