Hi all. My father is an expat living near Jomtien. One of his stateside (USA) friends called me this a.m. and told me has is in the hospital and just had a major surgery. He did not have any contact info for the hospital. Can anyone here provide me with a phone number to the hospital? Will there be someone when I call that speaks English who can fill me in on what is happening with my dad? I know someone who speaks Thai fluently, but we don't live close, though I can make arrangements to get with him for translations. Thanks for any help.

I think you will need the help of a fluent Thai speaker, generally it is only the doctors that will speak good English there.

It is a government (military) hospital and no real "customer service" or "international department".

However, this hospital is a very good hospital and he will be in good hands.

Perhaps try the embassy, they may be able to assist you.

Surely your dads friend who contacted you, would be able to make contact with your father.

As previously mentioned it is a very good hospital.

The one who called me is not in Thailand. The one who sent him the email with the info is. I have not heard back from him yet, probably due to the time difference.

It is not known as a hospital with good English speaking services on the administrative side. You might be wise to seek translation help. Many expats choose this hospital because of the cost factors, the hospitals catering to foreigners tend to be extortionately expensive. Best of luck to you and your father.

I'm sure if you contact the hospital they'll be able to find someone with enough English to convey a message for your Dad to call you back. You may need to try again after a few hours if the first time's no go.

I've been in contact with his best friend over there and will be communicating through him at this time. Thank you all for the input. Recovery is likely after a long hard road. He had a stroke.
