You will keep........ :)

I always thought that Rosemary would be a good name for your pet sheep. I suppose that you could just call a pet ram Herb.

Roasted TLW

Bastard is by far and away the best name for a pet dog.

" Get in here you bastard " " Where's that bastard now ? " " Oi you take the bastard out " etc etc.

Speaking of dogs, a dog flea is about to cost me, I estimate, roughly $3000. You see, my daughter found a flea on the dog the other day, and we determined that the animal must have caught it from the dog at the house behind us. The palings in the fence are getting well past their use by date, and the dogs are able to exchange sniffs, so we'll have to replace the fence. (I've yet to break the news to daughter that a determined flea will still find its way through the new fence, but we need the new fence in any case.)

But gawd is it murder trying to get the job done!

Four people advertise fence services in the local paper; one of them never answers his phone and it rings out, another doesn't answer but his phone takes recorded messages - he didn't call back, the third one made an appointed time for a quote and I waited all day for him - no arrival and no call back, and the fourth one actually attended and said a quote would be emailed to me within two days - that was two weeks ago.) In the past few months, I have tried to get tradespeople in for various jobs. It is almost impossible. Why do they bother to advertise?

Hi Ping,

Fleas, yeah, it's ya pet SHEEP ya worried about.

Ya worried about the dog nextdoor shagging ya sheep and cross breeding instead of you.

That would be SHOG, rite

Fencing if only palings, easy to install.

I did my dad's fence, old wood was untreated rubbish, posts were jarra, everlasting.

Guy at Dunnings recommended NZ Pinus Radiata H3, will last rest of yer lifetine.

Get stuck in before yer sheep and dog nextdoor get stuck in......hehe.

Thanks for the tip (about the fencing, not the shog), but I'll be replacing the back fence and one side fence with Colourbond - one side fence has already been done with it. Given the problems I'm having getting Tradies, though, it may have to wait until I get back here in Oz next summer.

But since I'm on a roll with whingeing, here's another one... You will recall I mentioned getting a new notebook to replace the current lemon I'm using? The model I selected was an Asus G73JH. However, given the problems I have been having with my current Asus notebook, I thought I'd check the Asus support page to see whether customers are having any problems with this new Asus model. Gawd. I'll put it this way; I won't be buying the thing any time soon. (A bit of an eye opener if you want to have a look at the Asus support site for yourself.) A pity really, because on paper, it's a great product.

CB you've mastered the touch pad? You've got to be the only person I know of who hasn't plugged in a rodent and blissfully ignored his pad. (Although Soundman's probably using a touch pad - I understand that recently, he has acquired a considerable dislike for mice.)

This youtube thing - I'd assume that kids spend a fair amount of time browsing youtube. I wonder what that does to the monthly download limits? It must annoy dad when he wanders into his study late at night for his daily dose of youporn, only to find that his download speed has been throttled back to snail's pace.

Spot on.

Dunno what plan you guys are on, but as I have mentioned before.

My NZ Telecom ISP, XTRA, gives me almost instant d/loads in YouTube...... and that goes for the 12 y/o PC my gal uses.

We both surf together most of the day.,,,,,,,,, and nite.

12 yo PC? Has it got an electric start or do you have to hand crank it?

Just give it a "boot" and all systems GO

Policemen just keep getting younger.........

They say you know you're getting old when the sergeants look young...

I've still got a collection of old working 'puters, actually (gathering dust) including a Sega with (I think) 16k RAM and you had to hook it up to a tape recorder to save your work. Gawd knows how long ago I bought it (new). More stuff for the tip when I'm back here in Oz (grrrr) at the end of the year - definitely for the last time, other than the odd couple of weeks each year!

My first Poota, and I still have it, is a Sinclair 48K Spectrum.

Great lil m/c, bought it in the 70s.

Ran from audio tapes, like many at the time.

It was once the largest (quantity) selling computer in the UK.

Brilliant man, Sir Clive, electronicwise.

A 386, 40 mb HDD and a 486 collecting dust upstairs.
