Nakorn Ratchasima Province laying down protective measures during Songkran

Nakorn Ratchasima Province is laying down measures to guard against road accidents during the Songkran Festival.

Mr. Somboon Ngamrak (สมบูรณ์ งามลักษณ์), the Governor of Nakorn Ratchasima Province, stated that the province has made contingency plans which will hopefully reduce surface road accidents during the 2006 Songkran festival, in order to efficiently and safely celebrate Songkran this year. The province is using the "5E + 1Es" strategy, which entails directing village headmen, community leaders, and community policy to be on duty to caution against drunk driving, or dangerous driving, and to respond to any local emergencies.

Rest spots for intoxicated drivers have been set up at key locations, and will hopefully help reduce fatalities during this year's Songkran holidays.
