The freaking cyberclean now blocks even a big and well known name in the on line advertising industry:

Searchfeed.com

I'm speechless :D and mad :o

This is the trouble with censorship, it is the start of a slippery slope. I wonder how long they will carry on like this? I didn't mind so much before, because it was quite easy to get round, and they were able to save face by saying that there were doing something! But now everyone is being screwed by some narrow minded a** hole in an office!

Works just fine through a KSC connection.

Maybe someone at your ISP ballsed up the blocking list :D

Yes, it's like an avalanche, isn't it? Once it starts, there's no stopping it and even when all the censor-worthy sites are blocked, the little men with their little minds and little red pencils just keep going on.

Mr. Marquess, just a very polite request to you. I, and many many other members of TV Forum humbly ask you to change your text to a font that is comfortable on the eye and is a more readable colour. Always, I find myself unable to read completely your postings and I'm sure that I am missing something worthwhile....but, my concentration span is compromised by your text style. Try "Arial" in black without italics. Thank you Mr. Marquess. :o

[OK on KSC dial-up (which I am using because TOT ADSL is down yet again and the back-up TRUE dial-up has decided to not recognise my user ID/password after about an hour's use and trying to get through to them is a nightmare!)

Even better, Marquess, try not to specify any font at all and allow the forum’s server to post your messages in the default font. I find that font very pleasing to the eye, much better than Arial.

I, for one, stopped reading your posts long ago, for the same reason stated by Artisan.

A PM to me from Marquess:

Hey Artisan, why, don't you leave me be! There is no problem reading a size four font, which actually lager than the normal type face used by everyone else. Or is that I have to be like everyone else?

I would say "Yes" to you Mr Marquess. You do have to be like everyone else and my question to you is "Why do you want to be different from everyone else?"

the site seems totally inoffensive.
It seems rather easy to get a URL censored. Report your competitor’s web site to the Thai cyber cops and without further ado it will get blacklisted.

What’s that URL again where concerned citizens can report web sites?

Have you noticed how much pride there is reflected in the continuing announcements of how many more web sites the government has blocked?

'We've blocked another 1000 web sites this week!' 'We're blocked another 5000 web sites this week!'

The lousy, stinking bandwidith here is sinking toward Fourth World status.

The problem is , it is better we don't talk about proxies here, 'cause we might wake up tomorrow and TV is banned from the land of free (cough..errmyass).

I don't really give a stinky rat about the banning of xxx sites and all that jazz. But Searchfeed is a very good advertiser, wich means , it's a source of money for a good internet marketer/publisher.

Today Searchfeed, tomorrow what? Adsense? Let's ban the whole annoying Google network and show the world Thailand is "better" than China.

What's more from the responses here, Mr john in Pattaya can access the site, Mr Frank in Hua Hin is blocked, Mr George in Bkk can access it but only on dialup and from 4 to 10 am. Yeah farking ridicolous.

I bet they don't even know why they blocked it. Can you imagine the sort of microbrains assigned to this job? :D

May the bird flu sweep them away :o

This is how such governmental abuses start in any country.

People think it is OK to go after the more objectionable speech (after all, the internet is really free speech) and don't object to that. And then this madness. Again, this is a Thai people issue really, because we have no political say as non-Thais.

It's blocked for me, too.

But PM me to find out how you can "un-block" it in less than 1 sec.

This man above saved me from a lot of grief.

PM me if you need the address and I'll gladly share it with you.

As anyone who can access it can see, it is just a respectable advertising network.

Absolutely right! “Every nation has the government it deserves” (de Maistre), and today the Thai people are voting again for the government they want.

Not a governemental thing really, but more a cultural thing.

If you have a business you also have competitors. It's a rule. So , on the ground some competitors hurt legitimate thia business (or potential new thai business), their sites are simply banned.

2 years I was doing a job for a web store located in chicago. A big one. Was selling music, instruments, cd, partitions .... suddently one day at 10 am, impossible to logg in the ftp. impossible to get an http answer ... I discovered the whole IP was banned, I have to cancel the job, and pay back the advance (a part), and finaly discovered by hazard 6 month ago the son of an important guy was trying to have the same kind of business and used to kick the potential concurents by reporting then to cyberclean. It was a private dinner when I learned it by the father'mouth, it's ovious I said nothing, someone who can do that can also certainly close my business and send me back home quickly.

But I think it's disgusting.

Last point, the guy have economic power, but he is not affiliate to any political party, not have so much close friends in the governement. So no governemental thing, but usual business thing.

everybody know about this, and is right,we don't want yto change nothing about thais way.......

but, sincerally, you find right that internet here block site like searchfeed.com?(nothing porno or something contrary thais culture)

maybe tomorrow he blocked your website that give to you job and life.........without reason

only this we find is not right

where is the freedom???

also tot adsl blocked him,i ask to provider the reason(i call 10 time to different staff )and nobody say to me why this site is blocked.......it is right?

anyway,no problem, but it's the wrone way for the grow of the country and for complete freedom of thinker and of choose of the people(ALL)

Yup, the manipulation behind the scenes must be reaaally scary.

We'd better stop here :o

And that is exactly what is scary about it.

In the face of even the worst abuses of power, Thais bow their heads, smile uncertainly, and do nothing. The passivity of people here, their willingness to accept abuse as their lot and the way of the world, is absolutely terrifying. The fundamental reason that this country has little or no chance at significance is that ordinary Thais revel in their ordinariness and always 'stop here.'
