Getting medical files and Scans from Hospital?

Featured Replies

I need to get a CT Scan for a kidney/urter problem soon and I will need to get a copy of the files and the scans. Is this normal procedure or even possible?

I particularly need the scans/xrays. How can I get these? Get them copied onto a USB or Ext. HDD by the hospital?

I would understand the hospital not wanting to give them in order to ensure the follow up operations etc. are done there. But is it standard procedure to give or not give them??

Thanks.

You are by law entitled to copies of your medical records, scans and x-rays.

CT & MRI Scan are commonly available on disc.

There will be a fee payable.

You are by law entitled to copies of your medical records, scans and x-rays. Don't think so in Thailand ... medical records are property of the healthcare provider and they may choose to give them / not give them. Most however will obviously give.

CT & MRI Scan are commonly available on disc. In every hospital that uses PACS you will be able to get the CD with you images + the software to look at them (as they aren't JPEG's or so but eg. DICOM files)

There will be a fee payable. Possibly, many private hospitals will have it included in their basic fee though.

No problem at Bkk Pty hospital, no extra fee.

Burned on a DVD along with the software to view the scans.

Sent from my GT-I9001 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Phayathai, Sri Racha, no problem (x-rays), no fee.

But after 5 years they destroy the X-rays and/or data.
