BBC on Pattaya Cable Tv - Available again

Recently BBC World TV disappeared from the cable tv network in Pattaya.

If you are missing the channel please add your voice and go into Sophon Cable TV and let them know.

The more people who speak up, the more likely we are to get the channel restored.

Thanks

I called sophon cable and had no luck with the men and women I spoke to, they just didn't understand/know anything.

Meanwhile I watch CNN which is O.K. and Fox News is O.K. I miss BBC not for the news but the programmes.

Is BBC included in your paid package??

Do you have Sophon cable's email address? and I will be happy to send them an email and publish the results here :o

Although I am not suggesting anything moralistic or denouncing free speech and everyone ability to protest, you will probably find that Sophon is less than responsive to your petition.

They were actually "not subscibing" to the BBC before which was why it was being shown. Seems that Sophon is cleaning up itself for whatever reason and decided that removing the BBC was an option.

No-one seems to think that the movies being shown which seem to be absconded from the cinema fall under this category, yet.

You LIKE Fox news? With the adverts every 2 nano-seconds? No I think the BBC is far superior to both CNN and Fox. They do at least discuss news sometimes. I'm sad that its gone.

OK, this is biased as I am Australian and most countries don't understand the game, so for that I appologise.

The Indian channel is great because it shows the Cricket and since Australia seems to be spending most of its time playing India in the last 12 months (another series later this year) I get to watch it live.

Apart from that though I agree whole heartedly, 60 channels there may be, but how many are really watchable by the average English speaking falung?

THE ONLY MAIN CHANNELS FOR FARANGS, SOPHONS OWN ARE FULL OF THE CRAP THAI KARAOKE NOW.

THAT WITH THE DARK HAIRED AUSTRALIAN GUY DOING THE COOKING/ BREAKFAST TV STYLE STUFF MY DVD AND VIDEO ARE GETTING THE ATTENTION.

THE ONLY THING I WATCH IS THE PATTAYA AND WORLD NEWS CHANNELS, BUT I DO MISS BRITISH NEWS READERS.

Well get down to Sophon and tell them. They are getting complaints, but the more people who speak up the more likely they are to "pay" for the service and supply it to us.

Cheap they may be, but apart from UBC, which costs B1700 a month, they are the only service in town. So tell them what you want!!

But Sophon is better than the UBC package I have in Thana City.

That has no sport in English (only golf, and that is not a sport). All are with Thai voice-over. There are two permanent channels on Sophon still, even if one is mainly golf ...

Also ABC Asia Pacific used to have a lot of Aussie Rules - as the season is about to start again, may be some of that.

Would like to see BBC Prime, as well as missing BBC World, but cannot watch the fascists on Fox News - all repeating Rupert Murdoch's philosophy that Bush is a left-wing revolutionary, with Toxin supporting him.

I see both sets, every week and am seriously considering a satellite dish and a set of decoders. What advice?

All are with Thai voice-over.

Press the language button on your UBC remote, then you will get the orginal sound track.

That option will be available if you have your own subscription to UBC, not what the building pipes to you. There are firms that will provide dishes and decoders, the problem will be the subscription. Most of the channels do not want the bother of dealing with individuals. STAR is a prime example.

I don't think BBC Prime is availalbe in this part of the world

Has anyone looked at Banglamung Cable TV as an alternative? I just spent some time in hospital with the birth of my first child and they had Banglamung available. It seemed pretty good compared to Sophon but bear in mind I was lacking sleep and had a newborn baby to look after but the movie channels seemed better than Sophon and the selection also seemed bigger for foriegn channels.

Unfortunately I have the channels the 'Juristic Person' provides. It is an apartment rented by the company, so I pay nothing, so I can't really complain.(But of course I'm a whingeing Pom, so I do).

I have had BBC Prime somewhere, either Hong Kong, Indonesia or Vietnam - can't remember. (If I can't remember it must have been HK - never in the apartment long enough to watch any TV).

I'm in South Pattaya, we got BBC back a few days ago, had to tune the TV to it manually.

I'll try that when I'm home this weekend, 'cos I'm in Pattaya Tai as well.

Just goes to show that complainign can work, even in Thailand.

Say thanks to Sophon when you are in there paying your bill.

And gone again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently still available in Banglamung.

So Brit's can move down that end of town, or sign up for UBC
