Pre Amp Problem.

Featured Replies

Hi

This is one for the experts out there or people that have had the same problem.

My Rotel RSP 1068 pre amp has developed a fault. I was listening to a CD and all of a sudden a very loud horrendous high pitched noise which was loud enough to disturb next doors dog came belting out of the L/R hand speaker. The system is powered by two Rotel power amps. I tried it in the second amp and it was just the same. I connected a spare Denon receiver to the speakers and they were fine. I have checked all 8 outputs briefly on the power amps and every one have the same ear splitting fault through the speakers, which is not effected by turning the volume up or down on the pre amp. I have no idea if this is relevant but shortly before this fault occurred we had a one of those few second electric cuts which happen frequently up here. However but this should not have effected any of the connected equipment because it is all plugged into a Rotel RLC 1050 power distributer equipped with circuit breakers. I have had a look inside and everything looks fine, no obvious bulges from components or burns on the boards.

I would be very grateful if anybody can offer me any advice. sad.png
