The link from my satellite receiver to the amp via HDMI is suddenly not delivering sound, only picture

Until yesterday it was fine

I have changed the cable

I can get sound via a separate optical link

If the sound selection on the amp is HDMI with no sound

I have tried different input sockets on the amp

It seems to be the same if I connect direct from receiver to TV

Sound functions show as not available

It seems strange that HDMI should half fail in this way

Any ideas?

First step is to think about what changed?

Did the STB reset, power off? anyone play with settings?

If no clues there, check the HDMI audio formats the STB outputs (PCM, DD, DTS etc) and make sure it's only outputting ones your AVR can decode
