Just got an email from ex wifes lawyers (separated over 12 years) asking for an address to serve notification of divorce papers she had asked to have lodged, I think she has plans to remarry. May be overthinking it but has anyone been through a similar situation while living here and agreed to be served with divorce papers from Australia? I have no wish to obstruct her or oppose the divorce but was a very acrimonious split and have no wish to raise that genie from the bottle again.,... so loathe to give out my address details, I googled the law firm and seem legit. We separated nearly 12 years ago and at the time we got a separation certificate, separation settlement agreement etc so there is plenty of witnessed paperwork to show length of separation so don't understand why I need to participate in this. Having said that, and very little information on this particular thing online, but perhaps they need proof you have been notified / served so you can't say you weren't told. I looked into it a while ago and I did have a feeling I read as long as you are apart 1 or 2 years either party can file for divorce unopposed? I guess I could have mail sent care of a post office here? Can you do that in Thailand? Obviously would be sent registered mail and I would have to sign for it therefore they would have their requirements filled. Prefer 1st hand Aussie information from someone had a similar experience if possible rather than motherly advice 😁
