OMG, she is making up lies and trying to destroy the good image that Thailand presents to the world.

She (Rihanna) is actually committing a very serious offence in Thailand that has seen Thai's arrested and imprisoned. Posting negative comments about Thailand on social media is considered a crime under in Thailand more serious than pressing the like button.

Good this it's a high profile person doing it then. Not so likely that it will be done quietly.

Is she high profile tho, or just well known amongst children for her pop songs? How many had actually heard of her before? I certainly hadn't until she made the news on Thai Visa.

hey hey under my umbrella ella ella hey hey,,poor turtles i know they like it wet wet wet facepalm.gif

I like the comment about the crackdown: "It's all just window dressing!" and yes, it will be business as usual, no way that this will ever disappear from the surface of the earth, no matter where!

And yes, rihanna is right about protected species abuse, but where on earth does she live as a "honorary Ambassador for Culture and Youth in Barbados Additionally and a dominating figure in social media and internet streaming, ranking at number one on Forbes' list of Social Networking Superstars."

Maybe, just maybe she should get out of the "golden temple of super stardom" and have a good look at the real world, I could take her on a sightseeing tour across asia she would never forget, probably traumatize her for the rest of her super stardom life!

How about a fund for "freedom villages" spread all over asia, africa, south america, north america, europe, the caribbien etc., for traumatized women having to make a living this way?

How about getting real Ms. Ambassador?

I have a faint idea of how many actually chose to go into this kind of entertaining business and how many are actually "forced"... anyone, experts in this field?

So many stories and books been written about this and yes, Thailand, the Authorities should just face the fact and take the label "illegal" off it, declare sexwork an official trade and that's it, much ofthe "illegal actvities, the crime surrounding this because of being"illegal" would blow off, besides we are in the 21st century and neither in kindergarden!

Too funny. Let's see them scramble to save face over this one. The new hub for the prevention of women pulling turtles out of their vagina.

Baby turtle, yes, easy job... Even I can do that (and I am a man)

I would like to see a woman pulling a fully grown sea turtle out of her vagina giggle.gif I might even pay 20 THB to see that cheesy.gif

Turtles are an endangered species! How would you feel when someone pulls you out of a vagina?!? wink.png

I have seen birds, goldfish, ping-pong balls, balloon bursting darts, and a pussy smoking a cigarette

But I have not seen the turtles, razors, or turning soda into coke. YUK.

I saw the soda into coke.

But to be honest,it tasted more like Est...

Traveling outside the continental US is a mystery for over 80% of americans, rihanna is part of the 80%. Don't believe me, ask anyone in the states who hasn't traveled to asia to name a few differences between Taiwan and Thailand without researching it online...

Perhaps you can tell us about the differences between say Norway and Denmark seeing 'ow you know everyfink...

Too many people making money out of it being illegal so there is no will to change the status quo on this or all the other f....ed up things.

Not sure where you have been old timer, but you have the likes of Takrit of the DSI publicly threatening anyone who likes a politically sensitive post on facebook, not to forget the ridiculous defamation laws in LOS of course.

I agree about shows that include animals as 'part of the attraction' btw

Not sure if the post was serious but critisizing Thailand is NOT against the law in any way. I've been doing it quite publicly for years.

Lese Majeste concerns the Royal family and its advisers and that is ALL.

Grown women displaying their genitals is really a non issue, although the animals used is cruel ,disgusting and should be stopped. Just think-mongers you could be having sex where a turtle or bird was shedding a virus YUM!! Place is ripe for zoological pathogens .

Let's talk about how many tourists have drowned, and why.

I guess all the sellers out on Bangla rd. promoting the ping pong shows aren't enough help for the cops to find the sex shows. If they really struggle the sellers have the promotional flyers describing each of the sex show acts. That may be a good place to start!

im getting a good laugh over this as the curmudgeons outdo each other in denying a knowledge of pop culture or the world around them.

like her or not (i am indifferent) rihanna has been topping the musical charts for 7 years or so. Has worked with any number of top artists in that time and has garnered more than her fair share of fame.

not knowing who she is is hardly commendable.

When Beethoven wrote his 3rd Symphony he changed the whole world of music. Without his genius there wouldn't be any pop music. My guess is that the majority of popular music fans could write down their total knowledge of him on a bus ticket. Hardly commendable?

What cracks me up is they justify it happening by blaming corrupt officals and corrupt police; as if that absolves Thailand of any responsibility.

Surely it is happening because of corruption within the ranks of both government officials and police. I didn't notice anyone justifying it.

Please share with us how you believe a country can take any responsibility. The government, be it national or local can make a difference. Some individuals could make a difference but a country is nothing more than a piece of land with internationally recognized borders. It would be like asking your garden to take responsibility for mowing your lawn.

At the very least the police have the balls and the brains to understand that the tourist are not coming for a reclining Buddha or a polluted island or city but well for the entertainment. You start to wonder if the people complaining about a pingpong show are wanting to live in Disney World. We have seen in Pattaya that tourist should not come to Thailand in the first place. 5700 people were arrested during a crackdown, which means that 1 in 5 people in the town you visit are criminals. Better go to a nice resort town in Burma or Cambodia were there is no police checking you out on every corner. Take away the fun and there is even less reason to come to Thailand. Saudi Arabia is more fun and it is warm too, besides they never arrest 5700 people in a small resort town. The wait is on Thailand's version of the Hitler jugend (Youth Network against new drinkers and tomorrow against pingpong shows) who are already demanding that the sales of alcohol stops near schools. So no Pingpong shows, no alcohol, no bars, no hookers, no casino's .... Wow the Southern Muslims are already in charge.

Again not a fan, but do your homework.

Legacy and influence

Rihanna's first albums established her as a "Pop/R&B Princess"[203][204] by music critics; Nick Levine of Digital Spy described her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded, as the closest thing to a Thriller that 2007/8 is likely to produce.[205] Her single "Umbrella", famous for its "ella ella" hook, is considered by Rolling Stone to be one of the 500 greatest songs of all time and received critical acclaim.[206] Her 2011 single "We Found Love" was ranked by Billboard as the 24th biggest US Billboard Hot 100 hit of all time.[3] The music video for the song was also received with acclaim, winning the Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video and MTV's Video of the Year.[207][208]Time Magazine included Rihanna on its 100 Most Influential People in 2012,[209] with fashion designer Stella McCartney writing, "She's one of the coolest, hottest, most talented, most liked, most listened to, most followed, most impressive artists at work today, but she does it in her own stride. She works hard, very hard."[210] The following month, Forbes ranked Rihanna fourth on their Most Powerful Celebrity 100 list, with earnings of $53 million between May 2011 and May 2012.[211]

Rihanna is lucky because she can actually tell the truth of her experiences in Thailand we cannot be we Thai or Alien. That is unless of course we wear a uniform or are politicians.

+1

I'm not a big fan of hers. Nor do I "follow" her on twitter, instagram, or whatever else. But I have heard a few of her songs and she does have a good singing voice. Unlike the useless oxygen thieves Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, and the Jersey Shore critters, Rihanna actually does have some singing talent.

I'm 64, and there are quite a few of her songs I like, and I loved her in the movie "Battleship".
