500,000 baht given to each flood-hit district in Prachuap Khiri Khan

BANGKOK, 11 November 2013 (NNT) – Prachuap Khiri Khan Province has given 500,000 baht assistance to each district affected by the heavy rainfall-triggered floods, while ordering officials to speed up help for the victims.

Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul traveled to Pranburi District which has been heavily damaged by the recent flooding. After 2 days of heavy rainfall, the water overflowed Pranburi River, causing inundation in many communities, while authorities had to drain some water out of the Pranburi Dam because of the rising water.

The governor told his officials to send help to all flood-hit areas as soon as possible, whereas 500,000 baht was given to each district to assist its residents.

Governor Veera further disclosed that there are still 5 sub-districts in Pranburi battered by the inundation. He expected the situation to return to normal within the next couple of days under the condition that no more heavy rains strike the province.

Are there plans and budgets made to prevent future floodings?

It can't be: Santa Clause is coming to town, every time flood hits. The raindeers will be complaining.
