Looking for Thai Cooking courses in Koh Samui!

Featured Replies

Does anybody know Thai courses for reasonable price? Preferably in Bobhut or Chaweng.

I have done a morning at that SITCA school a couple of times. Good explanation and instruction, and the finished food was excellent (according to my Thai friends who ate it), especially my Yum Woonsen. :-)

But the second time, I felt it was a little bit more rushed in that some of the food preparation had already been done, whereas before we did it all ourselves.

If I understood correctly the prise per lesson is 2250 THB. I am looking something cheaper.

Thai cooking classes on Samui are aimed at tourists.

I can set you up with private classes at a friends house / restaurant.

Agree that would be an outrageous price to pay for a lesson, I've seen or heard of people paying much more... w00t.gifrolleyes.gif

This site looks pretty good for starters...wink.png

Cooking Thai food is not that difficult provided you have the ingredients ... but tastes vary so you need to adapt to taste !wink.png

Thai restaurant food is usually adapted to western tastes, often the locals don't like it... from my experience anyway.... If you eat at a Thai home, it is quiet different usually ...

Or ask at your local Thai restaurant, (if you have a regular one you go too,) .... perhaps when they are not busy, they might let you watch... for the price of the meal ...or a little more ? Just ask! thumbsup.gif

Not to take away from the tastiness of Thai food, but I just read that Chillies were brought over by the Portuguese from Mexico, Central and South America and of course, the curries are Indian imported.

Before this time, I have a feeling Thai food was very bland and plain, except for the deserts.

My Thai friend can make classes.

If there's 3-4 people / group.

500 baht for a 2 hour session including food.

Late afternoon, bring your own beer.

PM me if interested.

Sitca does teach Royal Thai cooking which is different than other regional types, they also do a fruit carving course. I took the week long advanced class and it has served me well.
