Furious DSI chief warns whistle blowers

By English News

BANGKOK, Nov 19 – The top Department of Special Investigation (DSI) official has threatened to take legal action against people blowing whistles to protest or chasing senior government officials.

DSI Director General Tarit Pengdith said whistle blowers are liable to charges of creating annoyance and causing shame to other people.

His statement was retaliation to former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban who told anti-government protesters to blow whistles at senior government officials as a display of civil disobedience.

Mr Tarit was among senior officials at whom people blew whistles. Two others were Education Minister Chaturon Chaisaeng and Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi.

The DSI chief said blowing whistles is a violation of the Criminal Code for causing disturbance and shame – an act liable to a maximum one-month jail term or a fine at not over Bt1,000, or both.

He said Mr Suthep’s action stemmed from his anger against the DSI which is taking legal action against him in several cases.

DSI officials were instructed to take photos of whistleblowers so as to take action against them, he said. (MCOT online news)

Khun Tarit should consider that you can only be shamed if you have done something to be ashamed of.

That being the case he could probably be shamed more than most.

Hey, if making excessive sound that invades petioles peoples privacy is illegal, I'm all for it.

Lol.

How the hell does he plan to create a law like this?

Read the OP. It already exists "Section 370 of the Criminal Code for causing noise unreasonably" coffee1.gif

So when is Plodrasop going to be fined for blowing his whistle at those hundreds of demonstrators?

Some of them had to go to hospital with perforated ear drums - evil and irresponsible man!!

Has this been in the foreign press yet?

One can only hope that the insidious but ineffectual Tarit is about to be found guilty of abuse of power.

I would also hope that when the judge sentances him to a lengthy term of incarceration that he puts him in a cell with a serial whistler

"Causing shame"? It's been 14 years of the Thaksin era which is 14 long years of greed and that's not "shame"? What a dunderhead.

Please contact Thaksin anonymous.

This is a special support group for the posters on Thai visa who are unable to differentiate between an article on whistles and one on Thaksin. Help is available. Stay strong.

This topic is not about whistles. It is about one of Thaksin's idiots being childish in the extreme in chiding people about blowing whistles at people supposedly creating an annoyance......only for him to reach for his own whistle and return the compliment.

On the plus side if your a member of the military and you disobey your orders and shoot non threatening protesters you'll be OK.

no you won't

You will be while Tarit is around. After that I don't know.

Just noticed my mistake. It should be 'if you're a member of the military'.

Tarit is clearly on the payroll of the DL, this is getting more farcical by the day. I'm off to buy a whistle whistling.gif

He also announced that exceptions would be made if protestors chased the senior government officials in a speeded up style to the Benny Hill theme.

Red shirts protest against Democrat at head office

BANGKOK: -- The pro-government red shirts rallied outside the Democrat Party head office at noon Wednesday. They blew sports air horns outside the party in a protest.

The red shirts belong to the "Red Ubon Ratchathani" group and they traveled by bus to join a rally at Rajamangala Stadium. They called at the Democrat head office to protest against it before they would proceed to the stadium.

Democrat MPs, led by MP Chinnaworn Boonyakiat, shouted to the red shirts in unison as "Slaves get out."

The red shirts then returned to the bus and proceeded to the stadium.

I wonder if Tarit will lay charges against the horn blowers? Or is it only whistle blowing that is illegal?
