webfact Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 South to brace for heavy to heaviest rains at weekendBANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department today warned people in 13 southern provinces from Chumphon to Narathiwat provinces to brace for heavy to heaviest rains at the weekend as a low pressure system is moving into the southern part of the country from Malaysia.It said that the low pressure system which is covering the Malaysian coast is now moving to Thailand’s lower southern region and to the Andaman Sea tomorrow.The low pressure system will bring in heavy to heaviest rains starting tomorrow in 13 provinces comprising Satun, Trang, Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, and Chumphon.It said strong wind and high waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand from Prachuap Khiri Khan province and the Andaman Sea with waves of as high as 2-3 meters.It warned small boats to stay ashore for safety reason during the period.Meanwhile the State Railways of Thailand (SRT) said its workers are hurriedly repairing a railway bridge at Tha Muang village in Thepa district of Songkhla after it subsided following two days of heavy rainfall in the province.Repair work is expected to finish today, it said.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/south-brace-heavy-heaviest-rains-weekend/-- Thai PBS 2013-11-21

schondie Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Two days of solid rain already with only an hour of drizzle. It looks like the ground is already saturated so if the rain carries on into the weekend the flooding will start in the usual places. Apparently areas near or in Hat Yai are already flooded.
