My take on the SH150i, PCX150, Forza 300, and Nouvo SX.

Currently I have a SH150i, and ""LOVE IT"", and Recently sold a loaded out Nouvo SX.

No comparison here. The SH150i is really a high quality bike, and does well on the road at speed. After riding the SH, and getting on the Nouvo to deliver it to it's new owner, it was like getting on a bicycle. Gas mileage......It's a motorbike so I don't care.

Advantage's and Disadvantages that I see.

"Nouvo SX" (a great bike) maneuvers through traffic like a champ, has a longer wheel base than bikes like the Scoopy, and Fino. 16" wheels help with the bumps compared to 14" Scoopy, and Fino, and rides with a passenger nicely.

"SH150i" Costs more than the PCX for several reaons. 1st it is imported. 2nd it has beautiful Disc Brakes front and rear. 3rd large 16" wheels with pretty fat tires on it, leading to a great ride at speed, and with a passenger.( rear 120/80, 60P, and front 100/80, 50P. Maximum weight capacity is 400 pounds, about the same as the PCX150, including a second passenger. Wheelbase is almost 1 inch longer than the PCX150. Curb weight SH150i 302lb. Curb weight PCX150 286lb. Seems to have a tiny bit more power than the PCX150 I have ridden before. The fit and finish is beautiful on the SH. Super slick paint!! I have added some stripes to my black SH that comes on the PCX flat black edition, and it looks very nice.

If you added the Large Wheels, Tires, and Rear Disc Brakes to the PCX, the cost gap would be much smaller. The SH also has a completely flat floorboard. One disadvantage of the SH150i is that because it is a fairly large scooter, the seat is little high for a passenger getting on and off.

The SH150 is not the new Kid on the block. (except in Thailand) The SH150 went into production around 2001, and started with a SH50 in 1984.

"Forza"....Wow that would be a great bike to have, and I would have highly considered it when I purchased my SH150i, except for it's size. Too big for me in BKK with all the driving around, and between cars in traffic. You could go camping with the storage under the seat, and it is a great cruiser at highway speeds. Lots of seat space for the biggest of families ;-)

My 2 cents,

Are you sure the SH150 is imported? If so then there really is no reason to get it. I think it looks better than the PCX but for the same price you could get a Vespa which looks way better still. Painfully obvious here at the dealer in Chiang Mai where the SH150 is right next to the Vespa display ;)

Of the 4 scooters I have only ridden the PCX as I own one.

The SH150 is ugly as hell and cost over 20k baht more, no thanks.

The brakes are very good on a PCX but rear shocks bottom out too easy when 2 people on board (app 150 kg).

Added YSS rear shocks on mine and it don't bottom out with 2 people onboard any longer.

I read 2 places that the SH150 is the best selling scooter in Italy which I find odd considered that they have their own Vespa's there.

Okay another plus for the SH150. Doesn't need upgraded shocks to carry heavy loads.

PCX Plus Shocks, Disc Brakes on the rear, Larger Rims, Larger Tires, and the price difference further narrowed.

Actually the SH150 is one of the top selling scooters in the world.

Here is a list from a 3 years ago. Didn't find a 2013 list in my quick search.

Remember there is a seat for every ass, and an ass for every seat. I have never considered the PCX because it is ugly as hell, and has a so so finish and fit, or I would have had one a long time ago. Was looking at the Vespa, but fell in love with the SH150i.

Also opinions are like assho*es, everybody has one.

Please notice the top 3 are all SH Honda's.

Also at number 24 is the PCX125 with a score 5 times lower than the comparable SH125.

I have a friend here in Chiang mai with a Forza and he does ok cutting the traffic here and running between lanes.

I have a Forza and cutting through traffic is not an issue. Naturally being bigger size it does not fit through tight spots, but really hardly a problem.

I agree.....I think the Forza would be great!!!!

A friend just bought a SYM Joymax 300 they are apparently quite good also, and have a bit more grunt.

CC's are great for sure. I have a Honda Mugen CBR250R with many mods and enjoy the extra power. It's not as comfortable as my SH150 in traffic though. If you want to see a really neat new bike, take a look at the 3rd generation CTX 700cc Honda, (Automatic).

It's beautiful, and comes in close to 400k baht. You can manually shift with buttons, fully automatic, performance mode, and it learn's your driving style.

This years International Motor Show, (and Motorcycle Show) is opening for the public this Saturday the 30th through the following Sunday December 8, at Impact Exhibition Center.

Of course ride what you want/like/prefer.

I just find it extremely encouraging that after 11 years of producing the SH150, the SH Honda's are the top 3 bikes out of 100, and the SH150 number 1.

This indicates a reputation that's hard to beat, or compare to, and indicates a very reliable, performing bike.

Even the very popular Vespa is scattered out all over the list.

If one is flush? Let's not forget the BMW scooters!

I was blown away the first time I saw a scooter with a shoulder harness, windshield, windshield wiper, and a top. "The BMW"

BMW's are incredible machines. In America I owned a 335i Twin Turbo, and a 745Li. It would be impossible to sit down with a pen, and paper and write down all the features of these two incredible automobiles.

Can I point out that last year Honda Thailand sold 2.13 million bikes; as the list and link indicate a total sales of 5271 SH150 being sold I think that the stats are probably just for Italy.

Exactly, a wind screen is good to have at over app 120 km/h, below that it's good with some (hot) air in your face/upper body.

I still prefer my PCX and when out riding around in the Pattaya area it looks like I am not alone in that opinion, I only seen one SH150 on the road here and thousands of PCX's, some posters says that the SH150 is well worth the 20k baht extra with the 16" wheels and rear disk brake. The rear drum brake on my PCX is just fine thank you very much and after I fitted YSS rear shocks it handles like a charm and I ride mine like I stole it sometimes.

I laugh my arse off of at anybody who thinks that the SH150 is really worth the 20k baht more than the PCX, nonsense and think about this is Thailand with mainly Thai people buying it, do you think they care about 20k baht difference? Yes they bloody do, only the crazy expats would pay app. 20k baht more for a 150cc Honda scooter with perhaps 5-10 km/h more top speed, get real people, the SH150 will NEVER sell in large numbers here unless the price is compatible to the PCX, no way in hell.

But as OP said: everybody's opinions are like axxxxxxx, everybody got one.

i like Forza 300 more but i fear it is hard to drive in Bangkok. It also looks good. like the red one and large storage under seat that can even swallow two full face helmets!

So for Bangkok, i say honda sh150 and for anywhere outside of Bangkok, i say Honda Forza 300!

I just laugh to the people still finding pcx 150 a better value over sh150i with my ass. Actually, honda sh150 is a much more better value than honda pcx 150. You get better quality, bigger rims, better tires, better brakes, more power, roomy European ergonomics and flat board and the best selling scooter in this world for only 20,000 thb extra and you also get an ermax windscreen and a givi top box on top which makes the deal a super bargain actually. You try to get these for your pcx - if you can of course - you will coughing more than 20 k for sure plus hassle of finding parts and a proper mechanic to install them. Also, Honda sh150i looks safer with higher stance, better components and big wheels and brakes.

moreover, honda sh150i is different and not a common scooter, not may on the roads and looks a premium product from 100 meters away so you will be differentiated on teh roads and honda pcx looks like a plain run of the mill.

both sh and pcx looks ugly imo though.

Yamaha nuovo is the worst choice among these bikes. But the design of new Nuovo 125 looks good somehow to me!

But at the end of the day, all of these scooters will mobilize you enough and haul your ass nicely in Thailand!

Darn Right.....

Mobilize you is the key word!!! They will all get you going fast enough to wear a helmet, and get you from point A, to point B. :-)

I think I was in Indo when the raider first appeared, where it is called the Satria. Amazing for the time. Then most, if not all, bikes had two valves and along comes Satria with 4. Doesn't sound radical but at the time the biggest cc allowed in Indo was 200.

I've driven a YNE for the last four years in Phuket. I had never driven a bike before that. It's now my preferred mode of transport over the car. In fact the car sits for weeks without being used. The Thai girl is always on the back of the bike. We have a Click but that rarely gets used.

The YNE is as close to perfect as you can get in that class of bike. The only other bike like it is the Honda Airblade and the YNE is a better bike. It sells for 58k with alloy rims (the new SX is basically the same thing with a fuel injected engine). The PCX is 78k. The PCX is better bike. It's smooth, quiet and handles well. It's an excellent two person bike. I want one. But, I think I can trade in the YNE that has low mileage for a new SX for about 30k. The YNE is just a pleasure to drive and perfect for my beach town.

Drove a 150Hi the other day and it's a cool bike, no doubt. I don't think it's worth another 25k over the PCX. If you've got some extra coin in your pocket and want to drive the coolest motorbike around, that's pretty unique, go for it.

The Forenza is even cooler but we're talking about a much different experience on that bike than at the other end of the spectrum. By the way the CBR bikes seem to be a tremendous value here in Thailand.

I like the Yamaha for the best value here. The PCX is a close second.
