Shorif Muhammad, centre, shows police his haul.

PHUKET: -- A 64-year-old Pakistani man, named as Shorif Muhammad, was arrested and charged with theft after he stole a Russian man’s wallet from a sun lounger on Patong Beach yesterday (December 24).

Kaliugo Ergcnii, 37, and on holiday from Russia, went swimming and left his belongings on the sun lounger. Mr Muhammad seized the opportunity and stole the wallet, but Mr Ergcnii spotted him doing so and gave chase.

Once caught, Mr Muhammad did not put up a fight and returned the wallet, then waited while police were called.

Police then escorted Mr Muhammad to his room at the Blue Ocean Resort in Patong, where police found many other stolen items.

He was taken to Kathu Police Station and charged with theft.

HIgh quality tourists again.........

Ugh. How Phuket has fallen with these scum entering and doing petty crime.

I hardly hear Burmese getting the blame anymore. Used to be a favourite past time of Thai's to automatically blame then.

Ah, I'm so glad Phuket is a first class tourist destination!

Nice of him to mess up many people's hard earned vacations, what a gent! Now throw the scum bag inside.

It looks like they found a shit load of stolen bagged salads. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

They probably keep seeing the news reports of serious crimes committed against foreigners and the 'quality locals' getting off with 500 baht fines.Gives them the impression this is some kind of criminal paradise with much to gain and very little to lose if you do get caught. The police need to do their jobs properly and give real punishment for real crimes regardless of who did it. Corruption is a crime and breeds more crimes.

Both Phuket and Pattaya are simple a magnet to such scum bags.

Is this another reported case of a foreigner stealing thai jobs?

Chop his hands off. That`s what they would do in his motherland.

It's always amazing to see some nationalities who just can't kick back, and who insist on bringing their work with them while on vacation. A fat wallet is just impossible to ignore for some people.

And kudos to the German guy who had the guts to go and chase the thief. Khun Muhummad is lucky that the German didn't exact justice on him. Some Germans are mighty powerful dudes.

Reading comprehension needs an update mate.

Fool for leaving his wallet exposed.Replace Pakistani with Thai and what would have happened, same result?

Only the right hand.

The left is used to clean your arse.

So no one will offer him food from a communal bowl.

Shocking! How can this sort of thing happen in Phuket?

These are the type of things that happen when you p*ss off the the traditional western tourist market with all the collusion and BS here, and then replace that market with budget package holiday makers from emerging economies.

Blimey! Two wallets in one day? That's a bit cheeky.
