December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Police rally to demand arrest of cop killerBANGKOK: -- About 500 policemen rallied at the Royal Plaza Monday morning in a rare show of force to express their resentment against their superiors for the lenient handling of the protesters. The policemen who claimed to represent police from 88 police stations in Bangkok demanded their superiors to arrest the perpetrators responsible for the killing of a policeman killed during clashes with protesters from the Network of Students and People for Thailand’s Reform in front of the Thai-Japanese youth centre on December 26.The demonstrating policemen were each given a black ribbon to be attached to their shirt sleeves as a symbolic mourning for the dead police officer. One protester was also shot dead at the scene by gunmen who were believed to have opened fire from one of the buildings near the youth centre. Protesters suspected”men in black” for being responsible for the shootings.A small group of people showed at the Royal Plaza to give morale support to the disgruntled policemen.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/police-rally-demand-arrest-cop-killer/ -- Thai PBS 2013-12-30
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Instead of wasting your time rallying, what about doing some policework to catch the killer?? Or is that too simple?
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Silly me...I thought for a second, this was about the Red Bull- guy....
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Shouldn't they be after the RB heir first... Get your ducks in order!
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post If the average citizen was going to rally, every time police didn't do their job, you would have 65 million people on the streets 24/7/365!!
December 30, 201312 yr Forensics officially released have revealed that both fatalities - policeman and protester - were caused from a high vantage point, outside the reach of protesters, and likely police, as well. The photo of men in black was much publicized and distributed. But it seems leads - neither through photography nor science - direct investigations here. Until they do, these crimes are not likely to be discouraged.
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post A fine example of the mentality and the I.Q. level of these ''public servants.'' They really are a pathetic excuse as a bunch of human beings who can't or won't do the job they are trained and employed to do. Fine first class service at extorting money both motorcycle and taxicab drivers and the motorist in general along with the commercial vehicle drivers too and let's not forget the bus drivers neither. Fine at trashing motorcycles and cars and terrorising women as so recently seen on Channel 7 a couple of days back.. Never in my born days have I encountered such a pathetic, spineless, useless corrupt group of objects as we see in the O.P. image 'Tis indeed a shame we are not able to call upon the services of the ''Keystone Cops.'' They would have indeed put this current bunch of of turd polishers to shame

They would have indeed put this current bunch of of turd polishers to shame Yes, yes, yes, yes and again yes. One of the best comments I've read here in a long time. Well said, that man!! How dare such a force (or farce?) of pathetic rabble be allowed to have "Royal" in the title.
December 30, 201312 yr Being cynical, I wonder how much they were paid to demonstrate their resentment?
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post I don't want, ever, to come across the guy on the right of the picture! Just drop a pizza or burger and run....you'll be fine!
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Hmmm!!!!!!!!!! Don't disagree with any of the comments posted. But, they are protesting the brass. The average cop at those rally's are not calling the shots. If they were wonder in the warrant would served on Suthep? Bad form to do this oh heck yes.

December 30, 201312 yr So the police grunts think that the police top-knobs know who was shooting at protestors and police and demand the shooter be arrested? Charlem will be busy buying his son a one way airticket to Dubai today then
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post I actually think they're right. Their superiors don't seem to be allocating enough resources to find out who killed the cop or the protesters. These guys probably don't have much say in what gets investigated. Maybe their superiors already have an idea who the culprits are.

The photo of men in black was much publicized and distributed. But it seems leads - neither through photography nor science - direct investigations here. December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post It's very simplistic to just to attack the police as many posters have, but the corruption is an inevitable result of their low pay. And if their lives have no value in the eyes of their superiors how can anyone expect them to do a good job? Pay them a living wage and show that at least their lives are valued and you may get a better service from them.
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post For my personal experience, the low ranked police often is the less corrupt and the more obliged towards their duties. I personally know a handful of police officers, just out of academy that wish to change things, but they are well brake from the high ranks... Insult them all is no meaning, maybe should look at the high levels and the old timers first to find the rotten apples. I believe many of the policemen that were involved in the protection of protesters attacks are sincerely believing in their duties. Sure not everyone... And I guess they believe high ranks doesn't put enough efforts investigating on the death of their mate (and I add on the protesters deaths as well). So, respect for them.
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Silly me...I thought for a second, this was about the Red Bull- guy.... The police would get a lot of support from the general public for calling for "that" guy to be brought to justice. Last I heard "he" was seen at the Formula 1 race in Singapore, where incidentally relatives of one other notable fugitive from Thailand were also hob-nobbing with the rich and (in)famous. In general, though it's good the police are rallying together in support of their fallen and too easily forgotten colleagues.
December 30, 201312 yr It seems to mean that corruption and the existence of 'untouchables' helps create a climate where policemen cannot do their work (not that they really want to, it seems, but still)... The whole nasty situation is feedback .
December 30, 201312 yr Oh the irony. Didn't think it could get more foolish than it already is, and then we have a demo by the BIB against, err the BIB.
December 30, 201312 yr Hopefully they won't just grab any old Joe off the streets and charge him.....
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Bunch of dickheads. Perhaps they would also like to wear ribbons on behalf of those they have murdered over the decades. Furious. sent from my hippo phone
December 30, 201312 yr Popular Post I didn't' see any protest when a policeman was killed by the Red Bull son .And, still nothing done there either.
December 30, 201312 yr Didn't see any of the protest when thousands of innocent people were shot by their colleagues.
December 30, 201312 yr Author UPDATE: Police demand right to self-defence in wake of protestsBANGKOK: -- The demand for the right of self-defence is specified in a statement issued by a group of 500 policemen who rallied at the Royal Plaza on Monday to voice their frustration with their superiors over the way they were told to handle anti-government protesters. In the statement, the police group said that the perpetrators who harmed the policemen on duty must be penalized quickly. They vowed to resist the use of force against the police and to resist attempts to incite unrest and division in the society, especially those who bent on undermining public faith in the police. The police also demanded close monitoring, follow-up and resistance of the elements intent to destroy the nation by providing distorted information to undermine police organization, the police and the rule of law.Pol Maj-Gen Piya Tavichai, commander of 7th division of Metrpolitan Police Bureau, promised to pass on the demonstrators’ statement to the metropolitan police commissioner for consideration. The rally on Monday was in response to the December 26 clashes with police and protesters at the Thai-Japanese youth centre in Din Daeng during which one policeman and a protester were shot dead by unknown gunmen. Several policemen and protesters were also injured.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/police-demand-right-self-defence-wake-protests/ -- Thai PBS 2013-12-30
