Overstay ....

Featured Replies

My visa expired on 31st of Dec, when I was suppose to get my 30 days extension. Basically I up royally and went on holiday and forgot my passport at home in BKK.

I'll go on Monday, how many days overstay am I gonna get? When was it open? Can I do the tourist 30 days in Lad Phrao?

You need to go to CW for your extension. You no longer can do it at Lad Phrao.

It should be 6 days at 500 Baht a day.

How can it be 6 days, they include weekends and holidays? How can you overstay when its not open?

Everyday counts because you didn't do it on the 2nd which was the 1st day you could of done it.

LOL. Yes they include holidays and weekends, the onus is on you to ensure you get things renewed on or prior to that date in your pp

I'll sweet talk the old cougar there and see if i can get away with not getting a OS stamp.

Still 500baht a day?

You could have done it anytime during the week or two before 31st.

Exactly the sort of attitude which will endear you to the Immigration Officers!

It is a mess of your own making and you need the assistance of the Immigration Officers to get it sorted.

Think about apologising for the tardiness and asking , nicely , for the Immigration Officers assistance.smile.png

Yes 500 day and remember extensions of stay are at the discretion of the Immigration Officer. You could well find yourself being given 7 days to leave the country.

Yea I was joking, lived in Thailand since i was 19, speak and read thai fluently, never had overstay before. Somehow I don't think i'll be getting booted out for overstaying around new year and forgetting my passport at home.

Mistakes happen Mr Serious.

Living on tourist visas? Nice joke. The same as fluency in Thai. OK, then advice:

smile in front of officer, tell you was partying/new year/etc. Then politely pay overstay + extension. Nothing serious.

God forbid people have to change employers due to personal circumstances ... the 5k is nothing, the over stay stamp is.

Farangs can't be fluent in thai???

The overstay stamp is not a problem. I don't recall a report of anybody ever having a problem with one.

In Phuket Immigration you would lose 6 days of the 30 day extension plus pay 500 Baht/day overstay i.e. you'll get 24 days not 30. It may help you to know too that you can extend your visa at any time after arriving in Thailand and it will be extended from from the expiry date of the first 60 days. I don't know whether this practice applies elsewhere in Thailand.
