Suthep said once the people announce the victory over the Thaksin regime, all her assets would be seized.

The protest leader also disclosed that on the shutdown day, all major government offices will come under siege by protesters so as to prevent all officials to work or serve the caretaker government.

All major roads leading to government offices will be blocked and all government vehicles will not be allowed to pass, except city buses which will continue servicing the people.

He said houses of Ms Yingluck will also be blocked by an army of female protesters, of Surapong Tovichakchaikul, and of Kittirat na Ranong.

For Mr Surapong, also the foreign minister, Mr Suthep said he would see ”Hell on earth does exist and will experience it.

They will face mass protests that they have never seen or expected in their lives, Suthep said.

The mass protests will also be held at the homes of the national police chief and his two deputies, he said.

If we were in Belgium we,d probably all fall asleep. we are not in Belgium, we are in SE Asia where democracy is being usurped by Thaksin and buddies at a tremendous cost to the future Tax payers. What do you want to happen, just let it get worse and worse and say, but its Demoracy. Where was the democracy for Thaksins 2500 victims of his populist war on drugs, his populist theory on how to combat dissension in the South by murdering protesting farmers. Where is your proof of that statement? I am SO of people saying that red shirts get paid to protest and get paid to vote.

Let's not forget that Democrats were disqualified in the 2009 elections for VOTE BUYING. And the Democrats largest ally party, the Bhumjaithai Party, got disqualified in the 2011 election for VOTE BUYING. The -ENTIRE- freaking party.

At the end of the day, for Suthep's super elite backers (make no mistake he is just a frontman for the 'old money') it is about wealth. Whether it's the working class being used by Thaksin to further his ends or the middle class being used by the elitists to protect their jealously guarded privilege, ordinary people are being duped and used to lend validity to these battles between the vested interests and will be discarded without sentiment.

What you say about both sides is true, but the current uprising is fuelled not by paid thugs from up North, but by well-educated citizens from Bangkok and other districts who have had enough of all of this corruption. The aim behind all of this is that new rules will ultimately be put in place to stop all of these corrupt politicians from using the working or middle classes for their own ends.

When this is all over, and the Shin clan, every last one of them, has bolted to their "safe houses" in various "safe" countries, taking the assets of the country with them, it will be up to the new government (not Suthep) to try to get them back.

However, a more modernised, truly democratic government would no doubt begin to work with other governments around the world, for example, on extradition procedures, so it would be easier to get these corrupt individuals back to Thailand to face charges and to sequester their assets once they are proven guilty.

That would of course mean that Thailand would also have to be amenable to reciprocal procedures for other countries, and such partnership with other countries around the world would also necessitate a complete overhaul of the police force, getting rid of crooked and partisan officers, and replacing them with better-paid, honest and non-partisan officers.

I would suggest that the people that are on the streets in Bangkok right now share this kind of mindset, one which aims at improvements throughout government and society as a whole. They are not going to walk away from this when it's over and allow Suthep to simply take over where Thaksin left off.

These anti-government protests have to succeed, and that is why they will. Everyone has come too far to fail, and there are millions of people who have been giving their silent support to the recent protests from their workplaces, who will finally come out on to the streets to demonstrate their true feelings about the way their country has gone.

What we will see on 13th February is the complete capitulation of this government and the crooked PTP members running for the hills. Then the work has to begin on rebuilding this country, starting with the full auditing of the staggering cost of the Thaksin government years.

Yes I wonder what the situation would be IF the red shirt followers were asked to give back vote money and other perks to Thaksin because he was destitute.

Ha ha NO WAY they would tell him to sod off, he used them and in a way they used him. When it come to their turn to pay Near never, They only got to BKK 2010 in BUSES free--pick-ups free--free food--drink, expenses. Without this they would have been on the farm or taking the cows and buffalo out for the day.

We've already experienced that during the 2010 red shirt riots. That was way worse than what's happening now. Interesting that all the mass protests since 2006 have been caused by the Shin clan's actions.

No doubt some Bangkok protesters are not being paid. That is not in dispute. Of course they are protesting: their grossly inequitous share of national wealth is under threat from those they see as: " the great unwashed", "the uneducated", the "buffaloes" and a thousand otherterms of derision. They want the old guard and the good old day back: ie, those times when they did little to justify their privilege and could live well off the slave labour wages paid to those who actually made , produced, grew things of value. Perhaps we should be reminded of Suthep's closest advisor on foreign media relations, The Singha beer heiress , who explained so directly that people in rural areas didn't deserve the vote because they didn't understand ( this is the same woman who had to resign her own, appointed job with Abhisit after she was discovered handing out calendars of nude women, promoting Singha Beer , in the grounds of govt house....the institution so 'revered' by the Democrats. Her own father had to change his name as a consequence of her actions and to protect the company. Some really smart cookies working for Suthep

In the UK in 1974 around 200,000 demonstrating miners brought down PM Edward Heath's government. In 1984 150,000 miners tried to overthrow the Government of PM Margaret Thatcher, she refused to give in to their demands and would not resign, she even considered bringing in the Army. The UK economy suffered, but she stuck to her guns until after one year, the opposition were defeated, and her Party were returned to power in the following election with a resounding victory. Suthep would be better of negotiating now, we cannot afford 1 year of demonstrations followed by another landslide victory for Pheu Thai.
