Policeman apprehended with gun, 'ice' drug at Rajdamnoen rally site to be fired

BANGKOK: -- A policeman who was apprehended by security officers of the People's Democratic Reform Committee Tuesday night for carrying a gun into the rally site will face dismissal from police service, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Pol Maj Gen Anucha Ramayanan, deputy Royal Thai Police spokesman and deputy spokesman of Centre for the Administration for Peace and Order, said Pol Sgt Phatthara Phet-avut would face a criminal investigation and severe disciplinary investigation.

He was also found to have 0.5 grammes of crystal methamphetamine with him. The PDRC security guards handed him over to the Samrarnrat police station Tuesday night.

Anucha said Phatthara had not been assigned to carry out any duty at the rally site at all.

Hahaha how funny. The reds are calling the protestors armed drug addicts and here we have an armed policeman with drugs on him. clap2.gif

Think it's the kettle / pot scenario, the comparison would be better comparing armed red supporters and armed policemen - either drug addicted or not -- same same.

He certainly couldn't have been sent to there by the government to plant the gun and the drugs. After all, according to the government, the protestors already have guns and drugs!

(I hope this is taken as the sarcastic comment I meant it to be.)

0.5 grammes of crystal methamphetamine!

The prisons are full of drug users.
0.5 grammes of ice is normally 1- 3 Year Prison
+ carrying a gun off duty in public.

Did he tell where he has the ice from or from whom he bought it?

What punishment he will get?
Equal rights for all, or not?

Punishments to government officials and police for misconduct are more serious near election time.

Policeman Arrested For Bringing Gun, Drugs To Protests
By Khaosod English

BANGKOK: -- A policeman has been arrested after he attempted to carry a handgun and crystal meth into anti-government protests at Ratchadamnoen Avenue last night.

The police officer, identified as Pol.Sgt. Pattara Petch-arwuth, was stopped and searched by protest guards at the entrance to the protest site near Kok Wua intersection at around 23.30 last night, said Pol.Maj.Gen. Adul Narongsak, deputy commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police.

According to Pol.Maj.Gen. Adul, the protest guards found a 9 mm. handgun, 10 bullets, and one small packet of crystal meth on the policeman. The protesters then reportedly escorted Pol.Sgt. Pattara to a nearby police station, where he was officially arrested.

Pol.Sgt. Pattara has been charged with possession of narcotics, bringing firearm and ammunition into residential area without reasonable cause, and violating the Internal Security Act.

It is not immediately clear whether Pol.Sgt. Pattara was wearing his uniform or operating a police duty when he entered the protest site, but Pol.Maj.Gen. Adul suggested that the policeman belongs to Public Affairs Division of the Royal Thai Police.

Pol.Maj.Gen. Adul also told reporters that the police are discussing possible plans to contain the major demonstrations planned by the protesters on 13 January, in which the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) has vowed to "shutdown" Bangkok.

The public should not join the demonstrations or rallies organised by PCAD, since third-hand individuals could infiltrate the protests and cause violent situations or persuade the protesters to commit illegal acts, Pol.Maj.Gen. Adul warned.

A Thai Police Officer being fired actually means stood down for a month.

Nothing translates exactly here but what they meant was stood down I am sure and that will be the excuse given when he is back doing what he does best soon.

A little unlucky though. Even the Blackshirts didn't get fired for murder when they shot the protesters. Guess they figure drugs are worse that someones life.

There was a report from a senior cop some time back of the police setting up a special unit of 140 officers, from memory, to gather evidence against the protesters.

It was said that some of them would be disguised as protesters and infiltrate the protest sites.

I remember this because I posted at the time that I wondered how they would disguise themselves.

Could this be one of those who were chosen to infiltrate ?

If so what was he planning to do with the gun and drugs ?

it has already been said by CAPO that the protesters have guns and drugs.

Could it be that they have to try and arrange proof ?

Or was he just a particularly stupid cop doing drugs and carrying a gun around ?

Whatever, he has committed the only crime of getting caught.

That's not correct, what about the offences of being in possession of drugs and a gun?

Back in the day, many moons ago when I was young, dumb and ................... I sat for 2 days at a resort with some Thai friends smoking that <deleted>. After a while I asked them where it was coming from, as one of them kept popping out and a few minutes later he was back with another bag. They said police. A couple of rooms down there was a policeman from Samui on holiday, and also selling the stuff. Somehow, I don't think he's the only one.

Drugs are a lucrative business. Do you think the Thai police are going to sit back

and let other criminals make all that money?? :-) A while back some policeman was

caught transporting I think a million yaba pills ?? However in the case of this moron,

looks like he was just a user. Wonder if he was asked who he bought the drugs from....
