No tourist complaints made at Tourist Police help desks at BTS stations so far

BANGKOK, 14 January 2014 (NNT) – Tourist Police disclosed on Monday they had so far not received any tourist complaints or requests for assistance as a consequence of the political demonstration, at the tourist help desks arranged specifically for the Bangkok rally period at 4 BTS stations.

Police Colonel Atchayon Kraithong, deputy commander of the Tourist Police, indicated that 60 Tourist Police personnel were manning the help desks at Phayathai, Siam, Asok and Sala Daeng BTS stations. Throughout Monday, help desk personnel did not receive any complaints or aid requests due to the political demonstration.

Khachon Wirachai, deputy permanent secretary of the Tourism and Sports Ministry, revealed that only 6 calls were made to the Tourist's Friend Center on Monday. All the calls were made to ask for travel directions and route status. Mr. Khachon said this indicated tourists had an understanding of the political situation and had not been afflicted by the road closures.

The Tourist's Friend Center was operating out of Hua Mark sports complex, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport. Volunteers wearing white shirts with Tourist's Friend Center texts were being fielded by the center around Bangkok to provide assistance to tourists. Tourists can contact the center 24 hours a day by dialing 02-314-1212.

Very glad to hear this news. I was anxiously waiting to find out. saai.gif

At least when there are no tourists there will not be any complaints.

At least they put it right in the centre of the tourist area.

Of course, they did not complain to the tourist- police!

They complained to the tourist- COMPANIES!

How do I know?

I work for one of them and we had some the people on the phone, who were not complaining to the tourist -police!

Well at least for a change they're not complaining about predatory behavior by the city police.

Hi guys,

I'm going to be travelling from Sriracha to Ekkamai on Saturday and wondered if anyone knew whether that route is closed off due to the protests? We're gonna catch a taxi from Ekkamai to Khao San road after that.

Cheers

Have they checked that their phones are actually working so people can make complaints?

Yes, you're right, Phayathai, Sala Daeng, Siam and Asok, as the report stated. Don't know how much more central the help desks could be.

What tourist can complain because 99% cannot speak thai. I know that most police cannot speak English so this is just another way to print more useless bullshit propaganda.

So now we have the white shirts (from TAT), the yellow shirts, the red shirts and when do we get the blue, the pink and the grey out there ?
