Some are forced into it and some are not, it's that simple. What a person does with their own body is their business and no one elses, the main point being as long as no one is forced to do anything against their will, and no one is hurt. All my Farang friends are married to ex bargirls, and these girls are as decent, loving and normal as far as I can see, as non bargirls.

There are choices, if a girl wants to work in a bar, whether it's prostitution or not, fine. If a guy wants to frequent the bars and use bargirls, again fine. Every person to their own.

If they don't interfere with you, then you don't interfere with them.

If somebody said "You look like a good plumber, can you mend my pipes", I'd not feel insulted.

All I can assume is that Somsironphimai was trying to mislead us about her prejudice or lack thereof against prostitutes.

Lots of us lie about our prejudices and bigotries - and many more of us are mistaken in our own understanding of them

SC

Give her a break. It's perfectly understandable why she would be insulted at others thinking she were a prostitute.

I have a certain respect for the drunk who empties my bins but I would be insulted if someone thought I was a bin man.

So swap : hanging out with your mates, getting drunk, staying up all night, flashing lights, money, main goal is to get pulled, listening to pop music,

For clocking-in, officious man telling you to make more radios or whatever, up early, no or little holidays..

I think they all have a choice, and its not a difficult one..

I think once they get accustomed to bar-life they rather enjoy it, and who can blame them?

I suppose bargirl work is like any other work, some enjoy it and some don't, some girls are affected both positively and negatively. I agree that lots of the prettier girls would rather work in a bar, than work all those long hours in a factory, and as it is rightly pointed out, they all have a choice.

No disrespect, can I ask is anyone here married to or dating a current or former bargirl. You may have interesting insight into the matter. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

So you can rake more of your muck. No thanks

What is your problem? What muck are you talking about? The OP is being very helpful here, and is asking a question that will help anyone who might want to settle down with a BG, and there are plenty decent BGs and ex BGs married or dating Farangs.

I'm sure there are many reasons why girls and guys work in bars. I think the majority enjoy it and wouldn't want a 9-5 job if you offered it on a plate.

I work on very large motor yachts. Either owned or chartered by some of the wealthiest people out there.

These yachts are not environmentally friendly, waste massive amounts of resources, plus in lots of cases are sexually and racially discriminate.

Like a lot of people who work on these boats, I always say just a couple more years and I'll be done, as I don't agree with lots of aspects within the industry. The truth is, I'm a prostitute (albeit an engineering one) to the wealthy. I could do lots of other jobs but the money and lifestyle just keep pulling me back.

I think we are all slaves to our greed in one way or another...

We are slaves to our greed, but the degree varies, and we do have a choice.

For example:

I worked in the IT industry, more specifically in web development. In Israel, some of the highest paying jobs in the IT industry are in companies that supply technology to the gambling and sex-chat industries. They are not actually gambling or sex-chat companies, but develop the technology for these companies.

Still, I could never bring myself to consider such jobs, because I wouldn't want to be involved in it.

So we do have a choice, and it's not that hard to say no to something even if it pays good - try it.

So we agree then, we have choices in life...

Some of us (bargirls included) chose to stay in an industry that we might not agree with 100%.

You chose not to, I chose to do so...

Each to their own and good luck to all :)

555...you are twisting my point of view! Not every Thai women are sex workers, for those men to made that type of proposal was disrepectful and insulted to women. Would they go and make that kind of proposal to the women in their homeland, they would get slapped on their face, right? I have nothing against those bar girls, actually, I am kind of admired them that they are able to do what they do.

But still, you think that to be called a prostitute is an insult. Do you think it is an insult to be called a doctor? So do you really admire them for what they can do?

SC

Would you care if some guys were calling you mother or daughter or wife a hooker and trying to pick them up?

When is it that we have to be politically correct about a profession that the majority of people find not respectful. Call a spade a spade .... Why do these girl not tell their family or be all proud that they are hookers... The answer is that even their own family is shy about what they do.... It's a low job that pays well so people are willing to do it . Why lie to yourself or try to justify something that can not be justified.

Kangabollox have you ever been with a BarGirl?

I would rather stay single for a lifetime, my personal choice.

It was an interesting question you asked in your OP. However, if you have no experience with bar girls then maybe you shouldn't have started it ??

Bingo!!

I have had no experience with bargirls, and I am enjoying this topic.

I have had no experience with bargirls, and I am enjoying this topic.

I have had experiences with bar girls, and enjoyed the girls.

When I first came to Thailand, I knew nothing about the bar industry, as a non drinker, I had no reason to go to the bars, so I met some girls by other means, and dated a few, came to Thailand a few more times dating different girls, then I met my wife, who is very well educated with college degrees. At this point I still never knew how the bar system worked.

The point I am making is, if I was a drinker, there is every chance I would have met and been involved with bargirls. But I would never had married one, the reason being I wanted to marry someone with a good steady job and good income as I was never prepared to be financially responsible for anyone.

That's the way it is today and has been for the last eight years, and it has been highly successful.

Not all of us are as poor as you.

We don't need a working wife.

I am not poor, although not rich. I don't care how rich I am, I just would not start shelling out to the parents, brothers, cousins etc, There were girls I went with before I met my wife, who I got the impression were more interested in how much I would spend on them and their friends than they were in me.

I wonder what makes you think I NEED a working wife, and I am poor. I would say I was just using common sense, and the fact I have been happy and successful in my life in the last eight years here in Thailand would prove that.

I think there's a lot more honor in being a high-end escort/call girl than what most lawyers and wall street types get up to.

It's an honest profession, I don't know why people give them a hard time. Personally, I won't do it, I'll go clean the BG's house and her sponsers first, 555.

A few years back, I was in Phuket and Koh Samui for vacations, I was proposition by quite a few farang men. They were asking me how much I would charge them to have dinner and spend the night with them, so I said to them you are insulting me. It happened when I was walking on the beach and was at the hotel lounge, and they weren't old men either. I hate it when people think of Thailand, they think sex.

really there is nothing special about thailand other than its SEX industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get used to it honey!

Sorry Oogster8, but I really want to protest your use of "honey" here. I find it very rude and insulting when men say this to women, in this fashion, as we know you mean it to be rude and insulting, akin to just using the word "bitch" or something similar.

Please guys, try not to do this ... and this poster hardly said anything offensive to be deserving of any kind of attack.

I don't believe I can entertrain many men in one night. To have sex with multiple men in one night and every night must be hard on the body and mind, so yeah I admire them to be able to do it and cope with it.

SC

very hard on BOTH counts. it does take a special skill set. i do think at the end they do cum out very damaged though.

can someone tell me how a girl is groomed to be a prostitute. does the mom just have guys cum over and DO her daughter to get in the swing of things.

I want to protest this too Oogster ...you are just being disgusting. This isn't a porn site, and it is especially rude that you chose a female, again, to go here. I mean, really, are you 12 ?? I want to say more, but I won't !!

I already knew this kind of response was what I would get! Too bad you aren't unique ...I would have had more hope had I NOT gotten this response, but whatever. No big deal ... but I just think one should speak up once in a while ...so I did.

I think it is time to close this as per these forum rules:

8) Not to post extremely negative views of Thailand or derogatory comments directed towards all Thais.
