Sophon Signal Booster

Featured Replies

The condo I am currently staying in has Sophon TV.

Unfortunately, the signal in my condo is somewhat weak (though it has been good occasionally)

Can I purchase some kind of inline signal amplifier to boost it? If so, any ideas where in Pattaya I can buy one?

Simon

Please be aware, that a weak signal arriving in your room can't be changed or 'be repaired' into a strong signal again.

A booster makes sense only, at a place where you are having a good signal already to transport it into your room.

Amplifiers are sold in any electronic shop, e.g. Tukcom.

I would say as well that all you are likely to do is 'amplify' the bad signal, making your picture worse.

You should ask the condo building to fix it and this will be free. If they cant do it Sophon will come out and fix it for free also.

Either way, you dont have to DIY-it or pay for it.

When I have had problems like this with Sophon I have called them and they have alwayas been responsive. I do have to say that it was in a house and not a condo.

I had exactly the same problem. It was only certain channels that came in weak and the signal was fluctuating, really pissed me off, as nobody knew how to fix it. I then got a ca. 700 Baht booster, super simple to install and now have prefect picture on all my 3 TV's. You can find: Go to Banglamung from Naklua. You will approach the intersection where the old Numchai is on the right and another small electronics shop with a large Philips sign on the left, this is where the road turns right toward Sukhumvit and Banglamung hospital. About 3 or 4 shops up from "Philips" there is a small & very crowded electric shop, all contractors buy there. Ask the little Chinese guy/boss who is at the desk always busy or his wife next to him. "Signal booster for condo. They have 2 models, either one will work. Don't get the 2000 Baht one, it is for multiple condos, the small one for 1 condo. Good luck. MS>

Thanks for the input chaps.

Not sure why the TV has been so slow to be fixed as they usually are very good here ay fixing stuff quickly.

Anyway, I had intended popping down the that place recommended by Moonseeker today when, as luck would have it, the receptionist called me this morning to let me know that the Sophon technicians were here.

Very friendly and efficient guys and now all is working well.

If I am anywhere near that shop though I will pick up a booster to try if the signal does go wonky again!
