Sending motor bike to Chiang Khong

Featured Replies

I go to Chiang Khong about every 4/5 months. Have been for many years.

Is it possible to send a motor bike there from bkk, ? I know it can be done on the train to Chiang Mai from bkk,

And what other areas can a motor bike be sent to in Thailand from bkk.

I guess every where as you can send a bike through the post office - actually a safe and cheap way to do it.

The main post office in Chiang Rai seems to receive two or three motorbikes a day so I am nearly sure that you could mail it from BKK to Chiang Khong....seems to be the way most thais do it.

I put my motorbike on the train from BKK to Chiang Mai and back.

They unscrew the mirrors. The bike arrives filthy because the freight carriage is open and dust just blows around. They actually lift the bikes on and off the train because fetching a small ramp is lambaak, a pain. The guys in BKK will insist on a bribe of around 300 Baht. Chiang Mai did not ask for a bribe. You might want to pay it or who knows what they will do to your bike.

If you can handle all that, stick it on the train.

I was talking to my wife also and Siam First is very reputable company to send things around Thailand .

When I do it I will give them a try.

Will update later as to my experience with them
