How did the BIB (or the reporter) determine the name, but no further details?

If off the car registration surely there was more information than Mr David. blink.png

So much for all that vaunted BMW safety engineering.

Ah get real, not even a BMW is going to save you if you smack into the back of a 10-wheel truck. From the look of the wreck, the BMW was probably doing in excess of 180 KMPH and it ran smack up the backside of the truck, causing the BMW to come to an almost instant stop but probably not before the driver lost his head.

RIP David, whoever you were.

Yep...must have disengaged the active cruise control. Almost 3500 pounds at 180 kph to almost instant stop...some amazing physics!

Guys, a good friend and my ex. boss died in this tragic accident, does it really matter how, RIP Dave, why do the nice guys die first!!!

Your ridiculous speculation is bound to be absolutely spot-on.

Thai news reporting at its best

Just make it up as you go whistling.gif

Seems like reckless driving... but anyway... the traffic situation on the Sukhumvit Rd. near Pattaya floating market is very dangerous. Buses and trucks parking everywhere... two lines of the road are blocked.

Slowing down maybe would have saved his life? The 320 is a nice car but slowing down from high speeds requires space....especially in Thailand where the roads are not evenly paved. RIP.

Sorry to hear...

Re the speculation, sad for those who knew the BMW driver but for the rest everybody just offering their opinion, clearly the BMW plouhed into the back of the truck, the fact that it traveled some 400 meters further on before stopping means nothing, the driver was probably looking for a safe place to stop.

When a vehicle ploughs in to the back of another it is normally clear as to which driver was at fault, the reason why are probably not, momentary lapse of concentration, careless driving or reckless driving, what is for sure is the closing speed of the two vehicles was high and speed kills...

I suppose that you filled the police in on David's personal info and other essential details,
