And who said the protesters don't have weapons. More lies.

Please calm down.

This is just an isolated incident.

I am sure it is just an accidental discharge.

Not the fault of the protesters.

I won't happen again.

Suthep's protesters came in peace and with no weapons.

When the very first day??????

Chalerm and Yingluck are to be blamed for this.

Wrong!!!! suthep and his band of thugs are responsible for this. If they had not done what they are doing this would not have happened.

Suthep and his "band of thugs" include people from all across the socio/economic strata of Thailand. They are reacting to the massive rape of Thailand by PTP as dictated by ShinCorp. Always remember, the one and only purpose of the Yingluck govt. is/was to get Thaksin back. Nothing more, nothing less.

Suthep is to blame for this , he is a raving idiot, It is obvious that the firing is coming from the protesters, if the Police were doing the shooting Why is one dead and at least 4 or more wounded, Thai news stated 29 some were injured at noon, did not say which sides.

It is time for the rule of law to be enforced, let the army do what they may!.

Why do you bother to post other than to stir the pot. This is full of contradictions. So of the 29 injured lets assume some were protesters then how were they injured?

They were hurt by DISOBEYING the LAW. If the army were to come in do you realize how many people would be killed????????

BANGKOK: -- Two civilians and two police officers have been killed in a gunbattle between the police and anti-government militants at Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

Erawan Rescue Centre identified the dead as Mr. Supot Boonroong, 52, who was shot in his head, and Pol.Sgt. Pianchai Pharawat, 45, who was shot in his chest.

The two individuals reportedly died at Bangkok General Hospital.

Later, Erawan Centre named Mr. Thanusak Thanakoch, 29 as the third fatality. Mr. Thanusak was shot in his chest and pronounced dead at Vachira Hospital, the statement said.

Another policeman, Pol.L.C. Pongsakorn Saengklom, was previously killed near Phanfa Bridge when an unidentified assailant shot him in the head.

More than 50 people have also been injured in the clashes, which flared up earlier today when riot police attempted to retake parts of Ratchadamnoen Road from anti-government protesters.

Armed militants, who were apparently allied to anti-government protesters, later opened fire, prompting the police to respond with live ammunition.

The clashes later subsided when the police retreated from Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

Yingluck and Chalerm need to be arrested and charged with murder, seeing as they set a precedent with Abhisit and Suthep.

If this next 2 days does not bring out the army, then nothing will.....So will be time to turn their backs on the military and take more forceful measures so the courts step in asap.

Get power Suthep and drop all the top military decision makers and put in people you can rely on.

And the POST is stating that police say the shots did NOT come from the protesters but outside from both sides. ????????

from these guys? http://t.co/6XQgIHtvRE

A lot of speculation has been made about these chaps' irregular footwear.

But anyone who has served in the armed forces will recall those sensitive souls who have the misfortune to have fragile feet are all too often "excused boots" when going about their duties.

Have Suthep or Abhisit ever been arrested for what happened back in 2010? As far as I know, no. And presumably they will never be.

And the last sentence is a real disaster... I really hope it will never happen.

Well if this is how Charlie Chalerm and the keystone cops think they will resolve Thailands problems then it plays into the hands of the Military and allows them the excuse to do what should have been done months ago.. Go charlie !!

So Thaksin, Jutaporn and the other Red Dictaroial team are responsible for the 90+ deaths in 2010...

... If they had not done what they were doing that would not have happened... right?

I agree that the Reds did wrong back in 2010, but the government in that time was a not elected Elite government so the there is a difference.

That's also what Suthep wants now !

And right now, you must be out of your mind if you still think Suthep his reform idea is gonna change anything in Thai politics, so blood for Nothing, Nada, Niente, only for Suthep his ideal .

CMPO Aborts Mission To Retake Ratchadamnoen Avenue
By Khaosod English

BANGKOK: -- The police have withdrawn from Ratchadamnoen Avenue where they had battled with anti-government protesters throughout the day.

The Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) has previously vowed to retake the area around the Avenue and Government House where supporters of the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) have been occupying as their protest campsites for over a month.

However, after hours of gunfight and clashes between the riot police and PCAD protesters, the police eventually withdrew later in the afternoon, leaving the entire stretch of Ratchadamnoen Avenue in the protesters′ hands.

Two civilians and two policemen have been reportedly killed in the gunbattle.

Emboldened by the police retreat, large group of PCAD protesters surged forward from their position of Phan Fa bridge and vandalised a number of police vehicles left behind by the police force.

CMPO spokesman Tharit Pengdit said in a press conference that he is "gravely saddened" by the losses of lives today.

Mr. Tharit claimed the police conducted the operation to retake the area with great restraint and seek dialogues with the protesters at any opportunity, only to be targeted by armed militants allied to the protesters.

17 police officers have been injured by the attacks, Mr. Tharit said, adding that M79 grenades and unidentified types of firearms were used by the militants.

The fallout from having the chief of police promoted in a criminal on the run's hotel room in Hong Kong is having the totally predictable effect that was foreseen by TVF members since the photos were circulated. RIP to the deceased who likely had no choice but to be there on the front line defending the indefencible. The unfortunate truth is that there will be scores more deaths on both sides until the kleptocratic northern amart realize the end is nigh and step down to allow the destruction of Thailand to end and some sort of reconciliation to occur.

And step down to who???? suthep???? a murderer? a dictator???????

And the man in Dubai, what might he be?

and Associated Press says:

Updated: 5 minutes ago, 18th February 2014

Two people were killed and 57 others injured in clashes between police and anti-government demonstrators in Bangkok today as riot officers attempted to clear out protest camps around the Thai capital.

Multiple gunshots were heard at a spot near the prime minister's office where riot police had started to remove protesters and dismantle a makeshift stage, but it was not clear who was firing

Erawan emergency medical services said a 52-year-old male civilian was killed by a wound to his head and a police officer died from a wound to his chest.

Nice post, especially the last sentence " put people in YOU can rely on". So where Suthep can rely on to achieve his goal and ideal, instead of people where most Thai can rely on.

Posting this shows you have not much common sense !

It has been obvious to all that the military, the para military border guards have been key players in keeping the anti Shin campaign going. The police have never known who is the bigger threat to rhem, the protestors or the soldiers behind them. This bodes ill for Thailand given that the farmers are close to boiling point and a whole new set of problems are coming.
