What you failed to mention is that all of that was blessed and encouraged by the government of the USA. Be fair.

You are being far too kind in your constructive criticism.

Some great insightful posts on the first page again.

UDD has played a great hand in keeping quite. Suthep and media only calling them out as they want the reds in bangkok to give the army a pretext to come in.

They showing that this week PT has weathered the Court and Media combined assault on democracy and reminding the Army of the big problems they WILL have if they Coup.

PM looking stronger and as the media is at 100% propaganda level, she can only gain strength from it. Well done again.

Courts are backfooted today and have a protest on their steps of people demanding the Courts reform first!! Bet they didn't intend for themselves and the Media to be caught up in this reform. Media will self reform as we will all stop reading the guff they right once this coup plot is put to bed. Nation might get a few sales from deluded expats at the low end beer bar level, but nothing else after insulting our intelligence like this.

There will be more at this meeting than are left with Suthep... even on his big 1,000 man march on tuesday.

I wonder if Tida and the rest of the Communists intend to return to the jungle and start a Khmer Rouge type insurrection like they did before.

Try reading up on the subject before displaying your lack of knowledge.

You really haven't got a clue.

the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), whom she said is defying law enforcement leading to deaths and injuries.

The red shirts know all about that.

Of course they do. They suffered over 80 deaths in 2010 due to abhisits version of law enforcement.

So what's your point?

Posted

Whilst they are all together why don't they start their OWN political party and stand in the next election.

They all seem qualified and they obviously are willing to tell/explain to the whole of the Thai people what is truly wanted and needed in Thailand.

Most likely.... that Tida woman looks awful... I wouldn't follow her if she was walking across the rainbow to the Land of Oz

My point is that they know all about defying the law and what it leads to. It seems that the PTP have decided to use Abhisit's version of law enforcement too.

UDD report card shows responsibility for over 90 dead during the brutal terrorist uprising and nothing achieved including not being able to overthrow an elected govt.

Wasn't it the Democrats who were recently charged with MURDER over the uprising..??

Abhisit and Suthep were both charged in a personal capacity. I am not sure what the army was doing taking orders from civilians with no official capacity.

They can't even adhere to their own principles.

"To promote non-violence as our modus operandi for all activities"

The rest of the principles of democracy will catch up with this bunch of terrorists.

Time to listen to the will of the majority Tida.

you again!

The will of the Majority!!! Good, lets have an ELECTION then :)

Tida should just come out of the red shirt closet and tell everyone what she's actually thinking.

That she believes in socialism/communism, that books and intellectuals should be banned and that Thailand should be like North Korea and Cuba, where instead of 10% of the population being poor, everybody is equally poor and the only elites are the generalissimo's and communist party members (like herself).

Your statement is a simplistic attempt to raise the bogeyman of "commies". It is 2014, not 1950 and Senator Joe McCarthy the master of manipulation drank himself to death long ago.

Professor Thavornseth was an accomplished microbiologist and had a career on the rise until she made the sacrifice to join the pro-democracy uprising in 1973. It was that uprising that ended the brutal military dictatorship that had ruled Thailand with an iron fist. Subsequent to the 1976 massacre of students at Thammasat University and the reinstallation of the military dictatorship, her name was put on a target list for execution by the death squads that were roaming Thailand at the time killing the opponents of the military dictatorship. Yes, she fled to the jungle and the only group to offer her protection and support were the communists. She had no other option. It was flee or end up raped and dead in a field. She hid out for 6 years enduring hardship and suffering, all because she believed in democracy. She was non violent and it has never ever been alleged that she engaged in any acts of violence. She is the one UDD leader who has remained firm in her belief in non violence.

And now Thailand is suffering in part due to her Stockholm syndrome.

It's rather unfortunate that Tida has so little clout with the UDD that she can't stop the violence.

Some of them still are. You can frequently see it in their references to the success of various communist revolutions, particularly in interview pieces. Combine it with one of the worst aspects of unchecked capitalism Thailand has to offer and you have a very ugly alliance indeed.

Whatever she was in the past she is now rates fairly high on the scary nutter scale.

In late 2009, months before the red shirts descended on Bangkok, the offical monthly redshirt magazine ran a four page article on Lenin with big full-page photo of the man himself, which had all the communist blurb held up on a pillar as if it were sacred. I remember seeing it back then and getting that "sinking feeling."

I don't think they are all communists at all, I don't think half of them understand what happens to everyone except the very highest members in communism. But some of the red-shirt leadership definitely have real communist leanings.

Not a bad idea; after all, it doesn't look like PTP will be around much longer!

After we've finished trying people for corruption (and God forbid, jailing those that are convicted) that would be an excellent idea.

I look forward to the conclusion of this case because it is patently obvious what the outcome will be. Those ranting about murder will be eating crow.

Disagree? Check out the law for yourself. Don't take my word for it.

Yep. Charged under a government trying to negotiate an amnesty for its criminal fugitive leader. That should ring a few alarm bells.

Having given you fair warning, I challenge you to a duel! Should either Suthep or Abhsit be found guilty I shall provide you with a bottle if your favourite booze. And if both should fail to be convicted, you shall buy mine.

What say you???

And of course those charges weren't to coin a phrase favorited by the reds 'politically motivated'!

So, after all the huffing and puffing in your post, you admit (can't well deny it, of course, because it is history), that these UDDers were part of a Communist insurrection to overthrow the form of Thai government. Yea, Khmer Rouge, just a bunch of "bogeymen" engaged in genocide.

Calm down, Fidel. Nobody in Isaan is going to get themselves killed for the Shins, except perhaps for a few of these Communist nutjobs who think they can foment a revolution out of the situation.
