Gun attack on home of PDRC leader's mum

30228152-01_big.gifForensic police inspect the scene of a shooting attack in front of a summer house of Khunying Sasima Srivikorn, the mother of anti-government protest leader Taya Teepsuwan, in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday.

KHORAT: -- Attack comes days after Taya Teepsuwan blew a whistle at Khunying Pojaman

A summer house of the mother of an anti-government protest leader was targeted in an assault rifle attack early yesterday.

The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee denounced the latest attack targeting protest leaders.

It said the attack could be linked to an incident on Wednesday, in which protest leader Taya Teepsuwan and her husband Nataphol blew whistles at Khunying Pojaman na Pombejra, the former wife of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, at a Bangkok shopping mall.

The attack occurred at about 3am while Taya's mother Khunying Sasima Srivikorn

and her mother's friends were inside the house in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pak Chong district, said PDRC spokesman Akanat Promphan.

Three assailants arrived in front of the house in a black pickup truck, Sasima's driver was quoted by police as saying, adding that two of the men alighted the vehicle and fired indiscriminately into the front of the house while the driver remained in the car.

A perimeter wall and lettering that spelt out the house's name "Chalia Suk" (Sharing Happiness) were riddled with bullet holes.

Nakhon Ratchasima police commander Colonel Pongdej Phromijit labelled the attack an attempt to threaten but not kill.

He said police were investigating if the attack was connected to an attack on Taya and Nataphol's Bangkok home.

A source in the police investigation team said Taya's mother was unlikely to be the target of the attack.

"Initial investigations found that Khunying Sasima has no enemies," the source said.

"This incident took place shortly after Taya and her husband blew whistles at Khunying Pojaman. The investigators will try to determine if the two incidents are connected."

On Friday, a homemade pipe bomb was thrown into the couple's house on Sukhumvit Soi 18.

Nataphol, a former Democrat Party MP, claimed the attack was a scare tactic in response to his and Taya's well-publicised whistle-blowing attack.

Police Colonel Chutrakul Yosmanee, a superintendent at Thong Lor police station, said police would check footage from a security camera set up outside the couple's house.

He said police patrolmen had been instructed to guard against another attack on the property.

Taya is a former deputy governor of Bangkok. Her wealthy family runs many businesses including a school and a hotel.

Her mother also heads a foundation that has donated Bt10 million to fund the education of the children of protesters killed while at PDRC rallies, a PDRC spokesman said.

The message is clear. Criticize Thaksin or his family and you place yourself and your family in peril.

BTW Khunying Sasima Srivikorn seems to be a decent sort of lady, especially compared to Pojaman whose most notable contribution to Thailand is to aid her then husband in his corruption and narrowly escape imprisonment herself.

Well you certainly put yourself in the face of danger when Thaskin was P.M. just ask some Radio , TV stations and newspapers, if you put all the stuff Thaskin pulled when he was P.M. it would be bigger than War and Piece

Yes I notice that they have gone to gorilla warfare. Ever since they got their but kicked in a face to face confrontation with collage students and lost one of their members.wai.gif

This is most obviously a fascist, thug, brainless PDRC protestor garnering sympathy. The only protest movement in the history of the planet earth where the protestors blow themselves up and shot themselves until there is no one left.

Ukrainian protestors targeted the opposition. Egyptian supporters targeted the opposition. Thai protestors targeted themselves….

THATS UDD LOGIC.

You heard it first on Red Shirt Radio AM.

False flag operations are not unique to Thailand. This is not a peoples revolution like the comparisons you made, this 'protest movement' is being orchestrated by people who are in many ways more powerful than the government.

There doesn't seem to be any pretense to hide the obvious motive of these crimes. It is truly sickening, but in addition to that is profoundly cowardly. When an older woman who has done everything she can do provide help for children to be the victim of an attack like this is sickening, and reflects far more on the character of the perpetrators than anything else.

At 3am most Thais are sparked out and sound asleep, surprised the driver was awake to see so clearly ??

If that's the house in the bakground, which looks like it's got quite a few trees in front of it, would in my opinion make a very limited vantage point of the front gate seen here.

Also looks like there's a hedge of some sort as well, towards the left..again this would restrict any visibility towards the front gate, I'll presume that the front gate seen here is pretty well illuminated then to actually see two people get out and start shooting?

Or are they theorising that there was 2 shooters based on the amount of rounds expended?

Yes I did, where it said the driver seen 3 assailants in a black pickup, and two get out and start shooting.

I'm just stating that at 3AM most Thais are sound asleep, and I asked if that was the house in question, one would ASS u ME that it was based on the empty cases, and I stated that looking down from the house to the front gate there's trees etc limiting the view, which raises the question in my mind as to how the driver could see so well??

It's hard not to miss the fact there's cartridges all over the place, so I don't think anyone is denying that house wasn't targeted, it's kind of blatanly obvious it was, the logical explanation is that it's connected to the whistle blowing incident, however not everything is as it appears.

Personally I think anyone who fires a weapon at anyone outside of it being in the line of duty, is nothing short of criminal, with the exception of someone defending their property.

It's the part that at 3am, the suspected victim's driver was able to see accurately (to a degree), as I said, most Thais are typically asleep at that time, I'm not disputing an incident occured, just the accuracy of the drivers accounts, not even disputing he could be right, or wrong, just looking at the picture what with all these trees in front of the house, kind of makes it harder to see down the driveway, perhaps he wasn't in the house, and was taking a stroll in the garden I don't know..

Thai police diligently checking the yellow tape and crime scene.

If this is criticism, I don't get it! They have located and marked the location of the shell casings. They have identified it with a number marker. They have placed a scale (ruler) in the photo for perspective, and are now photographing each piece. True, it may not take three, but in my experience (23 years in law enforcement) one person usually takes the photos while another takes notes and collects the item. What is wrong with this?

Yes and like the rest of the crime scenes from all the recent throwing of grenades in broad daylight and shooting no one will be arrested and same thing will happen with this crime scene and the next. Unless like up in Udon Thani when a red shirt leader is shot at and then they make an arrest within days, makes you wonder huh?

Looks like they are all friends behind the scenes and the whistle blowers are taking some flack.

Thaya’s brother told Matichon TV he also called to apologize to Khunying Pojaman as well & did not approve of his sister’s behavior.
Terrible to target the mother, whoever did it. But so easy to target a house and ensure you miss the occupants if you are wanting sympathy. Who knows... don't suppose we ever will.
Was also very bad form to be blowing whistles at anybody. It is very ignorant, rude and dangerous to peoples hearing. If they want to be seen as the great mass of educated people saving the Nation, they have to do better than blowing whistles.
How about some policy outlines or cabinet/junta member names put forward.
