EU Folds - Agrees 15% Tariff
There will be a day of reckoning. The EU is playing for time. First Trump threatened 50% tariffs, then he said 30%, now it is 15%. The USA has a large surplus in trade with the EU in respect to services. Watch for the EU to take steps to reduce the ease of US firms to sell their services. The USA is slowly losing its grip on international markets despite these tariff "deals". Chinese refiners have slashed US crude purchases by approximately 90% between 2023 and 2025, redirecting roughly 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd) toward alternative suppliers, with Canada taking the US market share. The Canadian TMX pipeline bypasses the USA and the cheap oil now goes to China which has the ability to refine Canadian crude. The USA used to reap windfall profits, purchasing the Canadian oil at a discount and then selling the refined product back to canada and others at substantial profit. Canada has greater oil and gas reserves than the USA and the EU is begging for access. It will get it with the new resource law passed in Canada. It may take 5 years, but it will happen. The EU-Canada free trade deal was provisionally enacted in 2017. CETA eliminates duties on 99% of all tariff lines, of which 98% were scrapped when it it provisionally entered into force. Watch for a pivot away from the USA between resource rich Canada and resource hungry EU. This will take time, but it is underway. Remember how Trump was threatening Greenland and saying he was going to seize the country for its rare earth inventory? Guess who has been signing development deals with Canadian and EU mining consortiums? Greenland and Denmark want to deal with Canada and other EU nations, not with the USA. The trade changes are irreversible and once they take hold, the USA economy, will suffer. In the meantime, the 15% tariffs for the EU and Japan can feed inflation in the USA and block a Fed interest rate cut. -

What the President of the US is & is not allowed to do.
Here's an authoritative list of U.S. presidential powers: https://www.trumanlibrary.gov/education/three-branches/what-president-can-do-cannot-do The powers and duties of the President are stated in Article II, Sections 1-4, of the Constitution, mostly in Sections 2-4. https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution-transcript#2-1 The Founding Fathers were afraid one branch of government could in the future gain dominance over the other two, so they wrote checks and balances into the Constitution. The checks and balances went beyond the three branches of government and also dealt with the possibility of states with large urban populations gaining power over sparsely populated states based on agriculture or the government unduly restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens. Ever since the Constitution went effect in 1788, the powers of the Federal government have slowly but steadily increased, although there was significant push-back during and after the Presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. FDR's plan to "pack" the Supreme Court with justices less likely to rule against his administrations' economic measures was defeated and in 1951, an amendment to the Constitution was ratified which limited the term of office of the President to two four-year terms. -

Winning
Five out of 90 trade deals done so far. And every one of them amount to a tax on the American people, have accomplished nothing in the way of bringing jobs back to America, and will contribute to inflation and a weaker US economy. -

Community Birthday Party Cancelled as Danish Man & Thai Wife Donate to Evacuees
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A Danish national and his Thai wife have turned a birthday celebration into a act of generosity, donating essential supplies to evacuees and a local hospital amid ongoing border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. At around 13:30 on 26 July, Otto Villumsen, a Danish national and his wife Ornuma Khetnimitt, alongside her brother Luechai Khetnimiti, delivered disposable nappies to Sri Narong Hospital in Surin Province. The hospital has been receiving patients and injured evacuees from neighbouring Sangkhla and Buachet districts, currently affected by cross-border military clashes. The couple also provided vital household supplies, rice, instant noodles, canned fish, drinking water, mosquito repellent, underwear, sanitary pads and other necessities, to evacuation centres in Sri Narong. The distribution was coordinated by Mr. Luechai, who is the manager of BT Concrete Co. Ltd., with the support of company staff. Mr. Villumsen said he had travelled from Denmark to Thailand to celebrate his birthday with his wife and her family. Upon learning of the military conflict occurring close to his wife’s hometown and the subsequent evacuation of civilians to nearby shelters, he felt compelled to help. “My wife told me about the evacuation centres in Sri Narong. Since they are near where we are staying, I thought it was right to do something for the people suffering in this situation,” Mr. Villumsen explained. Mrs. Ornuma Khetnimitt shared that she traditionally marks her birthday with almsgiving and a family meal. Her husband travels from Denmark every year to be part of the celebration. This year, however, the family decided to cancel the festivities after hearing news of the clashes and the evacuation of large numbers of civilians. “Instead of a party, we donated essentials to the hospital and shelters. My younger brother and our company staff helped deliver the items. It may not be much, but it comes from our hearts,” she said. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-07-28 -

Trump visit Scotland
This is the hilarious moment Trump's golf caddy appears to surreptitiously drop the ball in a prize spot before the president takes a shot. Two golf caddies are seen walking next to Trump who is driving in a golf cart. They then walk ahead and one is seen discreetly dropping the golf ball to the ground. Trump then gets out of the vehicle and approaches it, appearing to pretend it's the shot he made. Comments reacting to the sly move. One said: 'Caddy did that so smoothly. Can only imagine how many times he's done it.' Another commented: 'Trump's notorious golf cheating, like having his caddy secretly drop balls to fake perfect shots, exposes a shameless pattern of deceit that erodes any claim to integrity or leadership.'
