Three M 79 grenades hit Army anti-aircraft barrack

BANGKOK: -- The Army's Sixth Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion was struck by three M 79 grenades last night, causing damages to its car park and a building.

The army barrack lies close to the protest site occupied by Luang Poo Buddha-issara on Chaengwattana road.

Soldiers guarding the barrack did not allow media representatives to go inside to inspect the scene’ saying entry will be allowed this morning along with Explosive Ordinance Disposal police.

The anti-aircraft artillery battalion also is adjacent to the PTT petrol station which was also hit by M 79 grenade a few weeks ago.

Luang Poo Buddha-issara said he heard three loud explosions last night at about 8.30 p.m. and believed the perpetrators meant to fire at his tent inside the protest site but missed and landed at the army barrack instead.

He also believed the attacker or attackers might be the same group who earlier fired the grenades to his protest site and landed near a woman toilet tent.

He said witnesses told him a bald head man of about 30 years old was seen carrying a tall bag jumping on to a motorcycle and escaped.

Seems the grenade launchers fro 2010 have all come out of storage.

Those who didn't believe Thaksin was after a coup all along might just be changing their minds now.

I think that a coup is the only way he will achieve his personal goals now.

The chances of the Police finding one of the Red Shirt bombers is as great as Thaksin admitting he has been dishonest.

Causing a coup will militarise a large enough segment of Red Shirt Zealots to create chaos.

And chaos plays into Thaksins hands, since civil people just want the chaos to stop.

Similarly to how Yingluck got elected, as soon as the deal was struct for the 2011 election,

the violence stopped and the jigger election went ahead with the pre-ordained outcome.

But this time might be different, and the violence much greater.

Reds can only pull the tigers tail so much before it turns and bites repeatedly.

Hopefully the military stays unified. If a big northern chunk of it defects to president thaksins side and what remains remains loyal there could be some serious fighting. Hopefully it will be a united military against lunatic red fringe armed with ak47 and grenades only. The general population from from Mae sai to Sadao has to remain anti war and rise above the extremists. Justice and and fair application of the law would solve a lot of problems. Politicians from all parties, red shirts leaders, red bull heirs, rogue military leaders would all be jail if justice wasn't suppressed.

an ak-47 is still as deadly as it ever was ,any force armed with ak-47s and grenade launchers is a mojor problem

especially if it comes down to guerilla warfare which it will since nobodys going to stand in one place and take on the army .......

That does seem to be the situation, and that would mean the deaths of many, but that would be OK wouldn't because fearless leader said so. But it wouldn't be the Jutaporns and Nuthawuts that perish because they are indispensable elite of the Red uprising and will be long gone, and no country would extradite them back to Thailand if a coup were to happen.

No statements from the Caretaker PM and the Minister of Defense?

I think you can have many coffees and cookies before her defense minister-ship comes out with anything at all :P

Trying to provoke the Army to come out & then play victim when they do. Not so clever.

Not likely to work the same twice.

An indication of insanity is:

Doing the same thing over and over again

and expecting a different result that you like better.

Interresting, after protester now army,

Now I understand why reds want to dismantle Army bunker in BKK.......

It's time for Army to take action against reds children killers........

The UDD's dismantling of the army barrack guarding the NACC yesterday signaled a much more aggressive tactic than any the UDD have staged before, and as such can be regarded as a turning point . In the light of that action, these grenade attacks do not surprise, and in fact the provocations are likely to increase. Yesterday's event was such a transparent provocation that it is almost impossible not to assume that the UDD are trying to spark a response that would more easily fit into their narrative. So far, Prayuth has not fallen for it. And yet at some point, if the NACC is ever physically threatened or impeded from their work, the army will have no choice but to come to its protection.

The evidence is mounting...anarchy is not far away...political rivals and armed gangs fighting in the streets...out of control...good time to visit Vietnam or PI...
