Where To Watch The Royal Barge Procession?

Featured Replies

Where is the best place to watch the Royal Barge Procession from on Monday? I read in the paper that there will be a Naval boat in the river that is selling tickets for B3000 and that there would be a grandstand set up with tickets for B1000. Unfortunately, I don't have that paper now and can't confirm those details online. Does anyone have a link to those details online? I've tried the 60th Celebrations site, etc. but could not find specific details.

I'm assuming that it will be easiest to take the BTS rather than trying to get through all the road closures so is there somewhere near Saphan Taksin station that would be a good place to watch the ceremony?

If this is already being discussed in a thread elsewhere, please let me know because I missed it!

OK, I should have read the paper this morning :o

A colleague just informed me there are some details in the supplement with the Bangkok Post today but if anyone has any specific recommendations, I'd appreciate them.

Last Monday, I went to view the Royal Barge procession - and found it was almost impossible to get anywhere near where the boats were. Most viewers of this grand spectacle were lucky recipients of priviliged seats near to where the main ceremony was.

And a lot of the waterfront was deserted of spectators....private companies whose grounds were obviously out of bounds.......government land.....likewise.....off-limits etc. etc.

A few waterfront owners did, indeed, open up their property to spectators but they were few.....this whole evnt was a travesty.......

It was meant to be a celebration......a grand spectacle.....but, in the main, ordinary Thai folk were barred.

No good.

I wasted about six hours of my hard-earned holiday on trying to catch a glimpse, but to no avail.

i watched it on tv and was also surprised that the riverbanks were spectator free .

very strange.

Now you can watch it on video!

That's what we ended up doing. By chance, I chose Channel 3 as the one to tape and that was the one that had English commentary :o
