THe most obvious explanation of paedophilia is that it is the natural sex instinct which has got skewed in some way, for some reason, towards younger targets. More than 400 children have been protected as a result, the agency said.

Indeed, sounds like it was a huge operation and well done the police. Certainly a wide spectrum of society though interesting to note that there is no mention of religious (CC or others) professionals mentioned.

First, how do we define paedophilia? I would say 'sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children'.

With that definition a figure between 1 and 2% of the population seems reasonable.
