Cha Am:-- The Chair of the Phetchaburi and Prachuab Khirikhan Golf Course Association recently visited Hainan and Taipei to introduce local golf courses to the Chinese.

This was aimed at increasing their knowledge and to further internationalise golf events in Thailand. Mr. Suvit Rienrungreung, the Chair of the Association, travelled to Hainan and Taipei at the end of March with Executives from 11 golf courses in Phetchaburi and Prachuab Khirikhan. Information was provided to Chinese golfers interested in golf in Thailand.

Mr. Suvit commented that Chinese golfers would like to play golf in Thailand, especially in Cha-Am and Hua Hin, because golf courses in the Region have received awards during a recent ceremony in Spain.

This is seen as a guarantee of the quality of the facilities and services available at regional golf courses. Mr. Suvit commented on a golf event to be held to strengthen friendship among Thai and foreign golfers.

On 15th June at the Palm Hill Golf Course in Cha-Am, the event will accept 40 groups of five golfers with a 15,000 THB registration.

The wining group will receive a trophy with other special prizes. All participating golfers will join a complementary dinner party. Mr. Suvit added that a report by Dr. Pramot Phetsat, a consultant to the Association, discussed four major golf festival tournaments in Thailand; Phetchaburi- Prachuab Khirikhan, Pattya-Lamchabang, Khai Yai and Chiang Mai.

He proposed that after those tournaments there should be a national golf championship, ‘The First Singha Amazing Thailand Golf Festival 2014’, with winners from the four tournaments invited to take part.

This event will feature a gold award for the winner, silver for second and a bronze award for third. More information will be available soon with the cooperation of Thai golf courses aiming to internationalise Thai golf courses and local annual golf events.

Mr. Suvit confirmed that 13th Hua Hin/Cha- Am Golf Festival will take place in August and September at golf courses in the Region.

Green fees are from 1,000 to 1,800 Baht with a lucky drawer prize. Competition days will also take place every Sunday throughout the Festival. The official Festival opening and first competition day will be at Springfield on 3rd August.

This will be followed by events at Royal Hua Hin (10th August), Imperial Lakeview (17th August), Majestic Creek (24th August), Suan Son Pradit (31st August), Palm Hills (7th September), Black Mountain (14th September – to be confirmed), Kaeng Krachan (21st September) The Eagle Milford (28th September) and Banyan (5th October). Individual Golf Courses can be contacted for all bookings.
