PDRC refrains from protests and awaits verdict for PM’s case

BANGKOK 6 May 2014 (NNT) — The PDRC have refrained from protesting today, as they are eagerly awaiting the constitutional court to rule on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s case in relation to the transferal of NSC Chief Thawil Pliensri.

Lumpini Park has been rather quiet since this morning as the People’s Democratic Reform Committee have called off their protests for a day in order to wait for the court's rulings on the case against the PM.

However, the PRDC protesters still remain in the park awaiting orders from core leaders regarding their planned rally on May 13; in the meantime, the group is launching a campaign during May 7 to 9 to ask the general public to join in on their mass rally.

The group vowed in a mass gathering during Coronation Day to rid the country of the Thaksin regime and change the nation to a truly democratic one, as well as reforming the country before any election took place.

OK, Thawil, your first task back at the NSC: arrest Suthep

Congratulations to Thawil Pliensri for getting reinstated as secretary-general of the National Security Council.

Since he is on good terms with Suthep Thaugsuban, being a regular government basher on the PDRC stage and all, PM Yingluck should give him an assignment to arrest Suthep pursuant to his arrest warrant. Give him a month or so and if he can't accomplish his job, fire him again.

TheNation

The Nation opinion piece, but since Thawil has refused to report to the elected Prime Minister of Thailand, she won't have the opportunity to give any such order.

He needs to be removed again from his position, the court should review its order to see if it made the right choice in the light of the revelations about Thawil. She made the right choice to move him clearly, as his behavior clearly shows.

Perhaps he is treating them with the contempt they so richly deserve?

Indeed it's contempt, whether she deserves it, is not for him to judge. He's an employee of the state with a duty, and he's violated that by refusing to report to the Prime Minister.

His actions should make it clear the original move was necessary to the court, and they should review their decision, to bring it in line with the new information.

I don't know if it is his duty to report to the caretaker PM?

Might be or might not be, I don't know the law. He might be independent.

If Yingluck is found guilty and looses her job highly unlikely PTP have a replacement or three waiting in the wings - duh-of course they will have planned for this eventuality and nothing is gained, only Yingluck gone!

May even benefit PTP's election platform.

They didn't have anything planned anyway.... only for 5th, 13th and 14th May.

Been reported umpteen times already.

I can see there being massive celebrations in Lumpini tomorrow.

I just pray that the entire cabinet goes.

The status of the PM has nothing to do with civil servant's duty to perform their tasks.

Saying he will not cooperate with her is childish and unprofessional. That is not to say that his removal from office was justified nor legal, or that the PMs conduct inspired much respect.

They aren't protesting today, they are praying. Let's hope their prayers are answered.

Based upon her 'I didn't do it' defence, I sincerely do hope the court rules against her. The sooner the Yingluck et al. go, the better.

You always say that the Shins, poo, puppets are the cause of the nation's problems. Wake up. Long after PM Yingluck is gone the country will have the same problems. The money wasted on subsidizing private schools makes the rice pledging scheme a drop in the bucket. Corruption is a way of life. Change the leaders, nothing changes.

I find your opinions humorous, vacuous and self-indulgent. Not quite moronic, of course, just completely egocentric and vapid.

This could have been "instructions" or it could have been "requests" but they wait for orders. I think it is a cultural thing that defines the way the masses are made to feel in this otherwise beautiful country.

I wonder if the protesters still get paid on a day off???? Might be a good chance for the guards to get some shooting practice in too!

Will the protesters stage a protest if they don't get paid?

You can argue whether she was wrong to remove Thawil but to replace him with a member of her family was plain dumb and no one that stupid should be PM.

Just watching Bluesky and the list of donations today included 1000 Baht from a Farang called Mike Hunt. Good to see that somebody has a sense of humour.clap2.gif

As all the protesters I know don't get paid at all (but get free food), they won't get paid on that day off as well.

Some of the protesters complain bitterly that they have enough food, but not one Baht to buy cigarettes. So my wife donated a couple of LM red and greens packs.

(But would be better to stop smoking anyway).

Far from being frantic, they are fully prepared for the inevitable corrupt ruling about to be made.

They have not sat idly by since the slaughter of 2010.

They are organised and ready to defend democracy.

Only the greatest of fools could believe this saga ends tomorrow.

The corrupt verdict signals nothing more than half time.

The Red Army is about to enter the arena and the rout is about to commence.

Shock and Awe is coming to BKK!

That glass of wine you are about to consume will not be done in a celebratory fashion toasting a successful coup but in your own morbid sorrow at the end of apartheid and fascism in Thailand.
