Trying To Find A Restaurant With Limited (bad) Information

After a brief phone conversation with a non-english speaking friend, i'm trying to find/identify the following restaurant. English spellings are my best approximations of what was said.

The restaurant is on the Chao Praya River

It's in the 'Nongkaburi' area (maybe Nonthaburi?)

perhaps near 'Kra-nang-glao' hospital?

for some reason, i also wrote 'Dat Phaa' (no idea in what relation)

and the best part, it sounded like she said the name of the restaurant was Dairy Queen, or at least the way a Thai person would pronounce Dairy Queen.

general impression was that it was a well-known place that a taxi driver would know...

Anyway, for now that's all the info i've got. Ring any bells for anybody?

Thanks for your time

The restaurant is indeed called Dairy Queen. They don't sell ice cream though. Great Thai food.

It is on the Chao Praya River, in Nontaburi. Any cab driver worth his salt will know this restaurant, as it is extrmely well known amongst the Thai people.

To get there.... take the Ngamwongwan Road past the Mall Ngamwongwan, and follow it over the Chao Praya river to Nontaburi. It is on the other side of the bridge, on the left.

Thanks. Good work.

Playing with Google Earth now that I had a starting point, it looks like somebody had marked it, although they labeled it with the name of a web site: d-rimnam

Anyway, it looks like one could take a river taxi to the Nonthaburi Pier and you'd be right there. Does that sound right?

You're in the right neighborhood. Rim Nam is the restaurant next to Dairy Queen... owned by Dairy Queen.

Dairy Queen is actually the bigger place downstream with the "white" terrace in your image.

I've been to both, and they are excellent.

Don't know... never tried the river taxi.
