I purchased my wife a new Yaris top spec with the push button start. At first I thought it was a gimmick but wanted the leather seats, now I am impressed it is so convenient not having to dig keys out of my pocket. The best thing is that when I walk up to the car all I need to do is pull the door handle and the car unlocks. I can also open the boot by pushing the electric button not using a key. With having a new baby we always have our hands full and this system is so handy. And of course to start the car just push the button, I wish my Vigo had this option!

The only dumb thing I think Toyota didn't do is offer the rear disc brakes with the top spec Yaris, I can't imagine why they have it for the sport model and not the "G" top spec go figure :o

great gimmick, until someone figures out how to hack the bluetooth code and can open your door...

I had a rental toyota prius (hybrid) for 3 weeks, which had the same pushbutton and auto-(un)lock doors. Very convenient, but works on bluetooth...

and why the heck they put such a big engine is such a small car!? if they put a 1100 cc or something in the yaris it would have a much better milage and sell better...

end rant...

Nah it's not BlueTooth, that's way to insecure.

I think you'll find it's a variant on an ISO 15693 proximity card. Not totally secure, but someone would need to be within 1 metre or so with some fairly hefty computing power in order to compromise it, you may just notice them :o

To all intents and purposes it's unbreakable.

I'm sure some clever thief will figure it out but lets face it if a thief wants your vehicle there is little that can stop them.
