Getting Around Question

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm usually in the Central Thailand Forum but had a question for those with more detailed Bkk knowledge.

I'm arriving in LoS next week and I usually overnight in Bkk before heading up country to my home. My usual Bkk hotel is not available, so I'm set up for the Millenium Hilton on the other side of the river.

What I need is a suggestion for the best way to get to it. I know how to get to downtown Bkk from the airport either by taxi or skytrain. But I'm not sure how to get over the river once I get to downtown.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! TIA!

If you end up at Saphan Thakisn BTS station for some reason, e.g. if you're trying to do a taxi / BTS combination, then there are shuttle boats waiting there to take people over to the Hilton, they're regular, free, and take about 5 minutes to get there.

I think you will like the Millenium Hilton. I live very near it and I eat there frequently. The chef is a friend of mine. The lounge at the top offers a great view of the river. The service in the restaurants is excellent.

At the Taksin Skytrain exit you can catch a Hilton boat to the hotel. Most convenient would be if you had a Hilton car meet you at the airport.

Unless I am misunderstanding your question, just take a meter taxi from Don Muang airport straight to the hotel.

I've been to Bkk many times, but never across the river on that side of town. Wasn't sure if a taxi over was the easiest way.

I knew the Conrad Bangkok had a courtesy van but I wasn't sure about the Millenium. Maybe they share the same van service.

Thanks to everyone else for the replies. My departure day countdown is now down to one hand. Can't wait.

A taxi across the river is no problem whatsoever. I still think a taxi is a better option than a hotel-arranged airport transfer, unless the hotel service is free. The more expensive the hotel, usually the more expensive the transfer. And the Hilton is not exactly a Khao San Rd guesthouse. :o
