I have been studying the LED market here in Thailand for a while now, and it is showing the signs of being on the verge of a boom industry.

Having studied the current market, I see as always with many cases, that the Thais are not taking advantage of the full potential of a fantastic market situation.

I have many years of marketing and sales under my belt, both on the street and online.

I have an electrical background and have a full understanding of the range of products available. I also have a good understanding of the markets for these products and how they are best suited to each environment. As far as I can understand, there are several sectors of the market that are as yet untapped, and I intend to exploit all avenues of this industry to the max.

I am still in the research stage of this particular project, and I have thus far seen nothing negative... In fact, all the signs are very promising for a very high profit venture, with alarmingly fast start up and turnaround potential.

I am now looking to start talking with a potential investor/partner to share the workload/costs with for the start up. I have as yet, not prepared a business plan, to be honest I have put together many in the past, and found them pretty fruitless wastes of time, echoed by many colleagues in the past. I actually elect for live discussion and note taking as being far more effective, a kind of business plan 'on the hoof'... if you like.

About Me

I am a 49 year old entrepreneur living in Nakhon Ratchasima for 4 years (married).

My skills include

Retail

Marketing

Sales (online/offline)

Website Design (HTML, PHP, MYSQL.... basic coding)

All internet related skills (server management, proxies, HTTP, DNS.... etc).

Import/Export. (Including a working knowledge of Thai import regs).

Electronics and electrical installation.

Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) for Kraft Foods Europe for 7 years.(Researching the most efficient manufacturing procedures).

Personal IQ of 135

My wife is one of my best assets.

She is fluent in English and Thai, she can speed type in both languages. She has a Bachelor's in accountancy and a Master's in business studies. She can also build websites from scratch. She also has a small business making and supplying cakes to Amazon Coffee franchises. She is quite a busy person, but still finds the time to assist me in various projects.

Obviously I do have money to put into this, but to get the start I want for this project, I want a bit more (around 500,000 to 1 Mn THB), but most importantly to share the workload. until we can appoint staff.

We also have a registered Thai company, although this is in the food trade, amendments can be made to the fundamental official company profile and name.

What we are looking for in an investor/partner?

Someone who is solvent and looking to invest in a very promising Thai industry that is on the march....

Someone with entrepreneurial qualities who I can rely on to get things done and work hard for their future financial security....

Someone who is very serious and can see potentials where others can't...

Someone looking for a change in direction from maybe a failing bar/restaurant or whatever. Would be nice to see some business experience in Thailand.

Here is a snippet of how the market is looking here.

Thailand's LED lighting market is gradually on the rise. The market income generated a revenue of more than EUR 7 billion (USD 9.3 billion) in 2010. It also accounts for USD 27 million or 12% of total lighting market share with expected tendency to increase up to 45-50% by 2015.

In terms of business opportunities, it is foreseen that a large number of companies and government projects will be using LED products as evidenced below:

  • LED Automotive Lighting – The number of cars with LED headlights will grow from 1.5 million to 5 million between 2013-2015 with the value of LED components growing from USD 130 to 300 million (According to Dirk Banderhaeghen of Philips Lumileds)
  • Government Projects: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is preparing to replace one million street lights nationwide with LED bulbs.
  • Public & Private Infrastructure Projects:From the construction of the new parliament house to stadium, residential, commercial, hospitality and entertainment projects.

There are actually many other avenues not described here that are ripe for the taking.

If you are interested in this promising project, the please send me a PM and we can take it from there.

Sorry for the long post, but necessary.

Thanks for reading.

Edited to add:

This is not only open to a single partnering, and can include several partners which would greatly enhance the potential start up position in the market while adding a wider range of skill sets to the project and additionally much more forward movement.

Hi Thumper101

How is your new venture now? I know this is a old thread but technology never dies.

I have experience in LED Lighting in both automotive and industrial and am currently in in China. If you have a manufacturing setup and want to expand to Industrial lighting Let me know.

China's development is slowing down and this can be a good opportunity to export out of Thailand.
