you use them on box tubing, steel or aluminium to make all sorts of things , i once made a complete out door kitchen , they also have adjustable feet for underneath benches,,,they just knock in so no welding ... come in all sorts of configurations ...

Most constructions are round tube here to avoid the steel 90 deg rust issues so that might help explain it being hard to find.

Plus the low cost to have someone make steel to order makes the DIY customer base very small.

And I am saying many such things are made to order here in Thailand, not all, rather than being made by Ikea construction plans. I do go into local HomePro on a regular basis and yes some DIY is available - but most will not be right angle iron/steel material for the rust reasons stated above.

you lost me with the right angle rust talk ,,,, these joiners etc are made from plastic , they are intended for indoor use on benches , tables, many applications actually , when inserted u must use a rubber hammer so the fit is tight ... mostly only used on 3/4 inch and 1 inch steel tubing including aluminium ( no rust) ...

Talking about rust in Thailand making the use of square metal problematic. Much better to use round tube when able. This explains it fairly well - right angles are not good any time but expecially bad here in Thailand in our hot/wet weather - you will see the result in many older fence/gates made of iron/steel - they just rust away very quickly. And this includes inside items.

As for the DIY business here believe you will find most such items being bought in HomePro and the like was by contractors (which at times are less able than many DIYers I admit).
