WhizBang
15 years what BS, remember the Australian who shot an American three times in the Top North hotel Chiangmai because he didn't like him! Only stayed in jail 1 year 9 months and returned to Perth! Murdered a guy but goes home! Better story: What about the Thai politician's son who shot and killed a cop at point blank range in front of a room full of witnesses. No jail time and is now a shooting instructor for the police. Amazing Thailand... Indeed.

HooHaa
Drug trafficking as we all know carries a heavy penalty in most if not all Asian countries. regardless of the amount, the crime is the same. Armed robbery of THB 1,000 or THB 1,000,000,000 is still armed robbery. how could she be trafficking, unless the article is wrong, she had a quarter gram. street value 625 baht. webfact
40 year-old former Thai-Spanish model gets 15 year jail-termBANGKOK, 12 June 2014 (NNT) - The Criminal Court has sentenced a once famous model to 15 years in prison and fined her 1.5 million baht.Former Thai-Spanish model Chatchada Cuesta Ramos, who is more widely known as “Yuyee” Alissa Inthusmith, has been charged with trafficking 251 mg cocaine into Thailand after she was returning from a trip to Vietnam.Ms. Ramos denied the allegations and stated that a passenger from the plane had given her an empty chocolate tube. However, she was unaware that the tube had been stuffed with cocaine. The court dismissed her alibi by saying that it was impossible for somebody to willingly receive an unknown item from a stranger without checking what was inside it.According to the Narcotics Control Act B.E 2522 (1979), the punishment for trafficking illegal drugs is a 20 year prison-term and a 2 million baht fine. However, since the defendant later provided useful testimony on the case, her sentenced had been reduced by ? to 15 years in prison and a 1.5 million baht fine instead.Ms. Ramos was also found guilty by being involved in illegal wildlife trade where she would receive a three-month jail-term on it.-- NNT 2014-06-

Emptyset
Bangkok Post says 251 grammes of cocaine. If that's the case, it's a different story. Street value of around a million baht (in the UK) if it's pure, 600k if cut. Not really at personal use level unless you're Scarface. Yeah, but seems more likely it's 251mg as the article says a "small amount". Not sure many people would class 251g as a small amount. 251g would surely amount to trafficking - though I guess typically mules would carry a kilo at least - whereas 251mg is like you say, enough for about half an hour's 'entertainment' for a couple of people. Pretty sickening and absurd this sort of sentence.

Totally crazy.. is this not a mistake where they mean 250 grams ? thats what i thought but the article says 'small amount" must be 350 grams though. i mean the judges said they didnt believe it was for her own use. in other words that it was to be sold.
