Aussie Partner Processing Wait times

Featured Replies

From what I beleive the process to be is ,it sits on your case officers desk for 4 months , he then looks at it and determines if any other documentation is required, he then either contacts you for x document or hands it off to the decision maker, who then takes another 4 months to make a decision. Maybe the decision maker in your case is in Japan or in another place altogether with less workload so quicker decision

  • catmaninoz, To be fair, your chances of success in gaining your S/O a permanent visa to Australia is verging on the impossible. You've been together for all of a sparrow's fart and there's nothing to

It's pointless really comparing Japan to Thailand for processing times.

Japan is not considered a high risk county by DIAC. The processing

times for a spouse visa in a low risk country is 5 months whereas it's

12 months for high risk countries..

I kind of don't get all this.

It clearly states how long you have to wait.

So you wait, but in the meantime you start a thread on a forum how long does everyone else wait?

Yes, because it' says up to 12 months. Not it will take us 12 months.

And I'm sure the members like the idea of knowing how long is the queue before them. It's helped giving my life a plan knowing 9 months as opposed to the full 12months. The only reason I started this thread.

If you step back 2 years or so ago, people were getting them in 6 months. What's a forum for? Asking dumb questions and making stupid statements?

Because its frustrating waiting 'up to 12 months' which isn't clear at all

Even better: pull the rule from the Embassy, pin it up, remove the tread.

That way 90% of TV traffic could be eliminated. Just look visa for Thailand section.

Yes on this forum I have learnt that it's taking longer then what I thought it would,my mate got it in 6 months a year and a half ago but now learning from this thread that's no more..!

Let's hope we're in the 8-9 month era.

What's that?

Nobody is Japanese in my case.

What is "Japanese Thai Visa"?

The target country is Australia, wife is Thai, target visa is Australian. That is exactly what this topic is about.

Im sorry if I upset anyone, its easy sitting here with her in the other room with her visa. Not sure why im even here in that case...

I get how it creates an anxious feeling, waiting always does. Only natural to want someone in the same silent boat to talk with.

You all have paid your dues, ticked more boxes than you thought possible, but be greatful, it can always be worse. Look at some of the other countries like the USA, us Aussies are doing ok in comparrison.

After all the bloody visas we have been through, the silent treatment we get back from vfs is actually a good thing although it feels otherwise.

Between 9 and 12 months seems about the average timeframe currently.

So frustrating yes, feeling of being a number, for sure, but there will be light appearing shortly at the end of the tunnels...be patient, don't stress trying to ring vfs for an answer only after 20 minutes you get a robot on the other end, a real person would likely say be patient also. Vfs will ring you if there's any issues, thats what you paid them for.

David has the right idea, pour a drink and go with the flow. Waiting is the name of the game now.

David, whats for dinner :P

I'm glad that's over with then.... I think it only normal for people to have a vent, it's the building of frustration in the 'open ended' waiting, but the direction of that should not turn on each other, I clearly know who I would like to kick and he aint a member of this forum.

Thats "Awsome".!!

That's only 6 weeks before I applied ..

Can it all come true this month get the visa granted and the Freo Dockers win the Grand Final ??

Well, as of 2 weeks ago we were at exactly 9 months to the day, now -9 days off 9 months. At this rate decreasing processing time at a rate of 9 days every fortnight. Who knows.....I think I took the vodka advise too far for this kind of math....

Well its almost 10 and a half months for me.

Still nothing from the embassy other than an automatic email reply from the case officer.

Still hoping for it soon but seriously dont know what the hold could be.

I can't say why, it's a gut feeling, but I would caution revealing the names of

Australian Government Employees without their permission on a Public Forum.
