Tourist Police close down illegal abortion clinic in Central Pattaya.

Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division received a complaint from Khun Nongnoot aged 31 last week regarding an illegal abortion clinic operating out of a building in Central Pattaya.

The Tourist Police obtained a search warrant for house number 194/179 in Soi Umet, Central Pattaya and on Wednesday Night conducted a raid of the establishment led by Police Colonel Supapon, the Region 2 Commander of Tourist Police. Evidence of the illegal abortions was found inside this 3 storey building.

The second floor contained the operating theater and during the raid two women who had just undergone the procedure were recovering in a makeshift post-op observation ward. As a precaution they were transported to Banglamung Hospital. Equipment used for the termination procedures was also seized by Police as evidence.

Khun Romaya, the owner of the illegal clinic was arrested and taken back to the Tourist Police Station where she confessed to charging clients 4,000 Baht for abortions. She also mentioned that she had been in business for 5 months. Charges relating to the clinic were brought against Khun Romaya who will now have to explain herself to a Judge.
