According to dhl.com, they have a service point on Samui at:

115/13 Moo 6, T.Bophut, Koh Samui,
Surat Thani 84320
Tel: 077-447-539

Working Hours: Mon-Sat 09.00 am-06.00 pm.

I need to have a debit card sent to me from the UK. Not a credit card and it's useless until I receive & activate it, but I've lost one before (think I used UPS back then...).

DHL any good? Other viable options?

I live on Phangan but I guess there's no viable options on Phangan. Visiting Samui is OK, hopefully I won't need to go all the way to Bangkok.

DHL is fine nowadays with the new agent. Close to Makro by the way. But for Phanghan why not just send with EMS with request of signature for delivery. EMS is done by Thai Post so should be fine to Phanghan.

Waited for EMS type forwarding from the UK , took 3 weeks.

DHL in the past was delivered to BKK office then forwarded to Samui via Thai Post EMS.

My experiences with EMS / Thai mail are mixed, I'd rather not have to order another card... I have to pay for the postage and I'll need it soonish.

So nowadays DHL have their own place on Samui and deliveries there should be OK??? I can come over from Phangan, it's not a huge deal, though I'd obviously prefer delivery to Phangan. Security is more important however.

Re Rooo's comment, they used to pass on stuff to the post office, before the Samui DHL office opened.... I have not had any problems with them.... (either way.... meaning when sent on via post office.)

Thanks Jimmy. I've lost a debit card and assorted other stuff, nothing that couldn't be replaced but enough to make one a bit wary. I'll give DHL a try :)

Talked to the manager at DHL soon after they moved to their present location. Told me had worked for DHL for many (10?15?) years and now had the contract for this station. Prior to his take over tracking sent items with the DHL in line system took items as far as Bangkok and then no farther, as they sent it from Bangkok to Samui by post as stated earlier on this thread. The manager told me that he wouldn't be getting the full tracking system anytime soon as it would cost him a lot (was a while ago, but remember it as multiple millions of baht). However, he said their new procedure was to put all the Samui packages one evening PG flight every day. Sounded like a big improvement to me then, but haven't used any such services since that conversation. While I like the post, I have once had an unactivated credit card not arrive here.

My last credit card came via the Postal service, from Canada, no problems, it arrived in a few days ..... all I had to do is call my bank on Skype to activate the card.... It was tracked all the way to Samui, ...thumbsup.gif

I have had no problems with DHL either, since they opened... usually for computer stuff, being shipped where there is no option. ... before that, never a problem with the post either! wink.png
