Pattaya To Construct Flood Barrier

PATTAYA – June 24, 2014 [PDN];- at 13.00 pm. At the road along the railway Mr Ittipol Khunpleum-mayor of Pattaya- was accompanied with Dr.Weerawat Khakhai-deputy mayor of Pattaya- and Pattaya congress men to inspect the progress of the construction of the flood barrier which is to prevent the water draining from Nong Prue and inner Pattaya which had caused flooding in many areas in Pattaya.

Firstly they decided to dredge Pattaya Tai canal in order to allow water to drain into the sea more freely. They had also put new drainpipes connecting to the old drainpipes plus they have also constructed a barrier in BanNernRotFai village in order to solve the flooding in Soi Khaonoi road, Soi Khao Talo road and BanNernRotFai village which are located on low lying land. Therefore the Pattaya congress had asked the state railway for some space near the railway to construct a barrier.

A barrier along the railway on the bypass. Openings at every intersection, flooding on the east side of the bypass road. What am I missing? Very confusing on how this is a solution. Can someone explain it to me. I am obviously missing it. Thanks

I'm not getting it either stoli?

I have seen a lot of clearing etc in the canal near the railway line recently and there was what appeared to be a dredging of the road drains at the bottom end of Soi Khao Talo on the eastern side of the railway line but probably not more than a 50m stretch. ASt seems to require a lot more work. When it does flood on that road it starts pouring out of the raod drainage a lot further up the "hill". Wakling down to the new market the other night I noticed broken holes in the concrete near the gutter and assume that wither they are opening up to the stormwater drain or the has been subsidence under the road which could be quite dangerous?

Maybe a map and/or detailed plans of what they are doing could make things clearer?

The flooding will continue as long as the street venders are allowed to sell everything on a stick and dispensensed it in 2 plastic bags.

There is nothing wrong with people trying to scratch a living, but when the packaging of the produce they sell ends up in the water drainage system, all it does is cause a giant game of "Kerplunk" with the sticks and bags in the drain.

Stopping the BBQ sticks, and only use paper bags is a cheaper and more sensible solution to the problem.
