dave_boo Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Spastic chicken - LOL. ll2 ,i love your posts and enjoy our banter, but you say we cant buy the better quality bikes because they are not sold in Thailand . Right. This is exactly why honda has sold so many bikes - its only the past 3 or 4 years or so we have had alternatives - at reasonable prices. If the only bike for sale the past 50 years was a Lifan (no offence to Lifan owners) then we would all be riding Lifans. Lifan would have sold the most bikes. Simple. Honda have some of the best engineers in the world , and im looking forward to F1 next year , as honda will have had 3 years to build an engine , and in the 90,s they rocked. Honda are capable of building great engines , Moto GP is proof. This is exactly my point .What sadens me is the borring cut-price stuff they palm off on people nowadays. Its far below their level of expertise. Ive owned Hondas , great bikes back then. I know everything has to be built to a price , but that has always been the case BUT the quality of Hondas in the earlier years (more than 8 / 10 years ago) was far higher than today. WHY. Standard Hondas are good / OK value , but maybe they should offer a "deluxe" level of bikes showing how good they can be , and charging a premium .People wanting a bike of Yamaha / Kawasaki / Ducati quality level would then have a choice between "value" and quality. Just an idea .And just my feelings. Im not saying Honda is "crap" but they are nowhere as good as some people think , or choose to think , and i think thats a sad waste of talent. Happy you liked my subtle dig at those young 'uns (or young at heart). And II2 is a decently sized european whilst I am a 'husky' 'merican. I totally agree with you about Honda needing to offer deluxe bikes. While the 700Ns are put together well, they really don't do it for me. Honda bringing a VFR800X that has everything feeling like a Swiss watch (my 500X still has a clunky as hell gearbox) would get me to open my pocket. However, look at the locally made bikes from the other Japanese manufacturers. They aren't that great in premium feel and desire. Not that failings on others excuses your own; just a little perspective.
ktm jeff Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 The VFR is a good case in point. The early ones (750,s) are still sought after , but Honda went astray with the 800,s with the flawed "linked brakes" and the "too sudden" VTEC system. I get it many people just need a bike - any bike , for transport , but some models with a bit more excitement in their function and design would be most welcom. With the Thai market begining to open up im sure of more choice in years to come. Just look at whats available now compared to 2 or 3 years ago. The thing is we are all enjoying bikes , different bikes - different folks.
macknife Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 For those who care. The CBR has some catching up to do.

The CBR has some catching up to do. of course with more horse power the ninga is a little quicker. but you gota pay a whole lot more for it and IMO is not as durable. you forgot to tell us its a twin ( LARGE YAWN ). Charlie PS I don't care

yankee99 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 ll2 , you do live in a dream world. There are far far better bikes out there than "Honda". Its just that it seems to pain you to admit it. Can you only see "Honda" , or do you realy work for them ?.I have to admit im a honda fan too.I have owned suzuki, kawasaki, yamaha and honda over the years and found Honda to be the superior machine . other brands are fine for a year or two and that when Mr Honda takes over. pure reliability and longevity they just simply don't break down or maybe just not as much as the other brands. As a kid i love two stroker's. Yamaha DT mx endro was my first street legal bike at 16, had a few before that for the fields. i loved this bike nothing better than 2 days rain and on with the oil skins and off to the fields, even had a excellent bmx course build by the locals for there kids. would only get 5 mins on it before being chased off. would head up there hitting the jumps and loving this bike. but when i think back now, i spend more time fixing it than riding it. back then honda didn't do it for me,4 stroke..too slow. progressed to a yamaha 250 IT as it was known, the first YZ To this day that was the only bike that scared me when first rode it. moved on to a rd 200 air cooled then the 400, both quick bikes but pigs on the bends, All the bikes were like that back then. Then came the yamaha RD 350 LC, the game changer. it was so fast at the time it was leaving 600-800 standing it was also so light it was a dream to handle (with steering damper ) but all of these bikes were like a high maintenance girlfriend, needed to much taking care of. I cooled off the bikes after that, bought a car, not getting wet anymore. I remember the first time i drove the honda CBR 600RR. A friend of mine had just bought it and everyone was raving about them . i must admit i was a little disappointed, im not saying i was not a good or fast bike. but coming off 2 strokers where you have the low down torque and at 6,000 rpm BANG! I just tought it would be quicker, BUT it never broke down, never blew pistons. you could give it hell all day everyday, just change the oil and filter and it was indestructible. since then i have drove the CBR 900 RR, R1 both great bikes But im a Rhonda guy all the way, with Yamaha close second. if you think different to what im saying, just ask your self one question Why is Mr Honda the best selling bike in almost every country its sold in ? I rest my case Charlie All my 2 strokes seem to come in at higher rpms with no low torque. Of course if you rode his cbr under 9000 rpms it is kinda boring.

I'm very interested for you to tell me what four stroke of the same size as a 2 stroke back then had more low down torque. ?????. Yeah, cause that's what i do, go around talking out of my backside, NOT! you don't have to worry, the tail pipe is scorched with under 1,500 km on it. nothing boring about this poster. my boring little 300 scorched a couple of Ducati's last week...me and my 100 kg down from 105 i might add, against 2 65kg weener, thai bad boys. It was ghost riding all the way. ( you will have to forgive me joe ). not once.... slowed down for the lads to wiss by again, dropped 2 gears and my boring little bike mauled them for the second time. or maybe that was down to the fat lad on the boring little bike. any way, get back to me with that 4 stroke, Charlie

ll2 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 also sure cbr300 is better for roll ons. and possibly better at redlights with low down torque.

mania Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 what is the lowest cc ducati sports bike here. my little baby burnt 2 of them last week...twice As for lowest Ducati here in LOS that would be the 795 Monster Roughly triple the amount of your HP & triple the torque of your Honda but slightly more weight (22kg) As for the ones you passed burnt.....I'm guessing these Actually related to yours as they are actually Honda's in Ducati costumes ...oh & 125cc's
Ridercnx808 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 The main reason I want to switch away from Honda : Too many Honda owners act gay.
Commander Tamson Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Great thread so far. Hope your new CBR300 is all you hoped it would be Charlie32. Please keep us posted on your thoughts and any mods you do. I'm sure I'm not the only interested jockey.
charlie42 Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 can we have some more pics here pweez I have just seen your post. Im back in farang land right now, so unable to post new pic's. But certenly not what i raced, they were actully full sized machane Im would never claim that my bike was faster on any stright, no where near in fact. This happened on a 3 laned carrage way with lots of traffic Maybe the thai lads had just bought them and did not want to push them. Maybe they had'nt got the ball's to keep up there was a link posted here 2 weeks ago of a 125 scooter that almost beat a cbr 900rr on a track, so it could be possable for my 300 to beat these guys Many thanks for you wasted time trawing the net for these photo's. Charlie PS My little rant in that post and a couple more was the result of a bottle of hong thong and then let lose on the laptop
charlie42 Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 The main reason I want to switch away from Honda : Too many Honda owners act gay. I really cant think of anything gay about road racing motorcycles. What do you do for fun, wressle tigers ? Charlie

Please keep us posted on your thoughts and any mods you do. I'm sure I'm not the only interested jockey. I must say, im very happy with this little bike. for what it is, a little 300, it ticks all the boxes Just before returning home i got a top speed of 167 KPH croched down with no mods yet. I said i was going to keep her stock. BUT UMMM ? I lost my wallet and cards on my last trip so i have not got the sprocket's on her yet. I found a jap site with them 15 front and 36 back 2,100 baht New card arrived today, first thing i done was order the set.' Only thing i dont like is beetween 1,500 and 3,000 RPM she's a little slugish but this can be overcome with high rev's and cluch cortrol Charlie

Sure why dont you have a look back on all of my 140 somthing post im sure you will find them filled with fantasy and tall tales or maybe not. As i said, there was a link here were a 125 scooter beat a stack of superbikes and almost beat a CBR 900rr on a track. i would not have belived that, had i not seen it. This 300 or 286 as so many here like to tell me is a very capable little bike its no fireblade but it does the job. Charlie
ll2 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Charlie it is good to see you are enjoying your bike. I smoked many bigger bikes with my cbr250r too! Maybe some others here scare to go fast on their 250 300 cc bikes but yes it is doable to smoke a duc monster.it is all about the rider at the end. And many 'gay' honda haters coming here posting i guess to derail the topic and axe your enjoyment and niceities of cbr300r so just focus on the bike man. Mods i believe needs to be careful on classic honda defamation and libel. Ad TV might be in trouble with honda. Assuming you passed a fake ducati monster msx 125 is strange imo! So we come and assume thing about everyone here?

It is fine you felt happy passing the Duc's but to be honest it is no contest & if a Honda wave was to zoom by me & I am not interested in chasing it I guess the Honda wave rider later in day can say same as you Many here on this forum have ridden & raced bikes for decades Sorry if not impressed by someone with a single lung <30hp bike who has said they weigh 105kg claiming to have burnt a couple of 90hp bikes as it was 99.99% a case of disinterest by the bigger bikes But seriously I am glad you are enjoying your new bike & that after all is what its all about

Their are far to many ( handbag's) riding around thinking there are the chap's. you know the type, get the big bike to impress the girls and have never redlined it past second gear without soiling themself's. well able to get from a to b on bigger bikes, but either afaid or just do not pocess the skill set nor the ball's to wind that puppy on and keep up with an experenced rider. because they cant do it they think it's not possable. Something i have also noticed here is the honda hater gang lets call them. come on our treads both this one and also the cb300 bashing our beloved bikes. but i have yet to see a honda rider on any of their tread's bicthing to the extent that these guy do, i certanly dont even look at ther tread's if they truely belive there bikes are supieror ,why are the giving us the time of day ? Anyway back to my beloved CBR 300R i would'nt change if for the world. untill next year that is when i may go for the inline four just released this year Charlie

ll2 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Still i believe, a cbr300r can smoke bigger bikes and i am totally sober! It is fixed with my experience and nothing strange to be honest. I did it many times especially at city rides and clearly the riders of bigger bikes was not disinterested! Again, it is about the rider. Like the guy smoked me with a ninja 250 on the track many times!
