Prison shakedown conducted at Klong Prem Prison

BANGKOK, 27 June 2014 (NNT) – Police, soldiers and prison officials together raided the high-security Klong Prem Central Prison for any illegal objects. Results reveal no findings of anything suspicious.

The Department of Corrections in collaboration with soldiers, police, and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) led a team of 400 officials in a shakedown at the Klong Prem Prison's Area 1 housing over 900 inmates and Area 6 with over 600 detainees. Under the commands of the National Council for peace and Order (NCPO), security forces aim to seek out any illicit objects, drugs, or weapons.

Results of the raid found only sharp objects such as cutters and electrical wires. However, there were no sign of narcotics.

The move was done in line with the NCPO's policy for a “White Prison” as well as prevent any drug-dealing practices. 19 prisoners convicted under drug-related cases have been transferred to the Khao Bin Central Prison in Ratchaburi province, while 12 other inmates are to be transferred as well.

Shakedowns will continue to ensure that everything goes in line according to the orders of the NCPO.

It is possible they did not check each and every cavity for drugs.

@ ratty, perhaps they should have sent in their "crack" squad to do the searches .................... facepalm.gif

The army joined with a crack squad and conducted a joint operation to weed out the offenders.

This is a testament to Thai professionalism. Absolutely no contraband what so ever. The Klong Klem boys doing a bang up job.

This is the cleanest prison in the world.

It's good to see this, especially in a profession notoriously corrupt throughout the world.

All these stories of good will we keep hearing and yet there is no evidence that proves any of it is true.

Cameras are suddenly non existent.

No more fingers pointing at the evidence of weapons.

The drugs have been smoken and they cant find them.

Somebody tipped someone off. it would be impossible to find absolutely no drugs in nearly every prison in the world.

Yes! A tip off was certainly given.

So all drugs, money, etc were hidden in the factories and gardens of section one the day before by the officers and trustees.
