my condo is standard magnolia (yellow) and they've painted the ceiling the same colour, it seems a little wrong like the room is a yellow box. Maybe I'll repaint it - i guess white is the standard what about light grey?

Always always always paint a ceiling white.

It makes a room appear bigger and reflect light well.

Same for walls, a light colour is preferable, can do one wall as a feature but again it can make make a small room appear bigger.

Off-white is what I have always observed and a flat non reflective paint. Have always seen local mix to make off-white but suspect with todays mix at store facilities it can be bought directly.

I wanted white ceilings in my new house with the walls a light grey (Dulux Twilight). After I saw the unbelievable mess the builders were making trying to cut-in I drove 1 1/2 hours to Udon to buy more grey so they could paint it all same colour. The result was still very good but would have preferred a flat finish for the ceiling. Semi gloss showed up all the joints and imperfections in the ceiling (they weren't very good at plastering either facepalm.gif ) whereas flat does the opposite.

Semi gloss ok at a pinch, certainly never gloss as others say you canM see every blemish and undulation.

Use a matt paint, eggshell or similar even acrylics matt is ok in non steamy bathrooms.
