I am an Australian citizen and my wife is Thai living in Thailand

I searched Thai visa .com for information to register my soon to be born son in Thailand.

I would appreciate if I could get some guidance on what I have found and correct me if im wrong, and if I may get some answers to my questions.

After the birth I will receive a birth certificate with both names of the parents listed

Form 118 to be completed by the Australian parent (I need to fill this out)

If one of the parents is NOT an Australian citizen they must provide:

Certified true copy of whole passport including movement stamps for the period including 12 months prior to the birth of the child. (Wife) Does this mean every page blank or not?

Official original birth certificate issued by Thai District Office for child born in Thailand plus one photocopy .How long does it take to get this certificate issued?

Original English translation of birth certificate plus one photocopy.

Two [2] passport size photographs of applicant [child]

If applicable, evidence of relationship of child’s parents [marriage certificate, family photographs etc]

Brief written history of parents relationship.

Attend the consular section of the Australian Embassy pay the fee and collect the paper work in 5 to 10 days.

After processing can these papers be posted to an address in Thailand?

I want to also apply for an Australian Passport for him while I am there, can I apply for this my self or do both parents need to be present?

I will be travelling down from Issan to do this and is there anything that I need to lodge with the with the Thai authorities to legalise the registration of birth in Bangkok or all that can be done at the local Amphur office?

My wife would also like to get a Thai Passport for him, is this something that I can do in Bangkok my self? I would have a Thai friend available when I am there to assist me if needed.

Thanks in advance

sounds about right.

I photo copied every page of my wifes (NZ) passport, blank and otherwise. I also photocopied mine too (OZ) every page. They took it all. Bring the originals so that they can cite them and compare them. They went page by page through ours to make sure it was the latest addition.

Not sure if they can be posted. We were just going down to pick up from the embassy. You can ring and ask.

Aussie PP application has to wait until you pick up the citizenship papers, as your child will be given a citizenship certificate with a number on it, which is needed for the PP application. Can't do the PP until you have the number on the certificate.
